Saw this last night. Basically it is what it is. There is no real plot, it's knocking off a bunch of different movies from the past, it has the same story line you already expect from seeing the trailer. I didnt expect alot from the movie just hoped for a lot of booms and alot of pew pew and basically a couple of hrs of entertainment which I got and was actually happy with.

I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I've been playing PlanetSide these past few weeks but from the very start, the movie seemed to me like one big live action FPS. No seriously, it was like I logged into PlanetSide and hit the Immediate Action button and it all started to roll. The movie was obviously about aliens invading earth and L.A. is the last line defense on the West Coast. So urban warfare with humans holding 'earth' weapons and aliens using their 'alien' stuffz. The parts where they were 'lazing targets and then later on there is a part that reminds me our Magriders....lol. All in all it was a fun movie to watch but don't expect anything earth shattering.

Yeah this is one of those flicks you watch when your super stoned or something because you know it isn't going to have any kind of thoughtful story it's just going to be visually impressive. I might go see it when I'm super stoned sometime.

    Too cool for school.

Not really looking forward to this movie after a bunch of bad reviews.

Saw it and enjoyed it. Don't read critic reviews. They're all over/under paid idiots anyway. Got exactly what was expected which was marines kicking some ass..... kind of. The aliens were pretty cool and the action was fast. IMO if you want action this has it. Aaron Eckhart has a couple cheesy lines but that's about par for any movie with soldiers in it.

I love the first line about the critics, but i just want to be entertained at the movie, if it's a who done it dialog movie, i would rather watch it on dvd so I can rewind ect. I guess I'll try to see this.

There's too much hate for critics in this world, I've found so many great movies by reading critic reviews and found so many great flicks I would have never heard of without them telling me about it.

And then they watch these blockbusters and they realize what a piece of crap many of them are compared to the movies that toy with your emotions and stick with you for the rest of your life and then they get bashed for it.

Put yourself in their shoes, just be happy they aren't all bribed to give good reviews to lame movies. Wouldn't that be worse? I love seeing the critics that just lay it all out there and bash the shit out of stupid movies that will be #1 at the box office. It reminds how genuine the job really is.

That being said I'm not saying this movie is bad, just saying that you can't blame the critic for realizing he's seen 100 better flicks in the past year that won't make half the money one bad blockbuster will.

    kk im done. lol.

edit: and don't take it personally Ryld, your comment is a common one and I dunno why it just erks me. My attack is all in good fun :) I realize theres different opinions when it comes to professions heh

Aggregations of critic reviews are pretty much right on the money. This one seems to be on a par with... GI Joe.

    That was pants too.
