    Hey guys,
We over at the FPS division have a member that is in the military that needs a collapsible , rugged and high quality headset.

    I came up with this:
    http://www.amazon.com/VULCAN-ANC-BL...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1330490521&sr=1-1

I like that this comes with a semi-hard shell case, is extremely light weight, the mic is detachable, its active noise cancelling for use in noisy base camps, has a built in battery powered booster amp (used to compensate for the noise cancellation) and uses standard 3.5mm plugs so it can be used for most any device besides a pc... it seems pretty solid.

    Thoughts? Better alternatives?

My alternate choice doesnt come with a hard shell case so I dont think it would work as well for traveling.

Can you vouch for build and sound quality on this?
I dont think they quite fit the needs (needs an integrated mic) and I would be concerned about component quality and build quality at that price point.

    on a side note:
Enigma, if you are looking for some serious headphones that are in this category, you need to check out the Audio Technica ATH-M50s. These consistently make the top ten lists of audio forums and reviewers worldwide. The value for money is shocking. The build quality is outstanding, the sound quality is so flat that producers consistently use these for mixing at less than ideal on-location gigs- including myself. They truly are the best headphones on the market for the price paid. I dont think you'll find someone who has used them that wouldnt agree.

On the original post, anyone else have any suggestions for a rugged gaming headset - preferably with a shell case? Sound quality and ability to be packed in a gear bag is paramount.

Oops, the ones I meant to post have a detachable mic included with them. It seems Monoprice no longer makes them though and replaced it with whatever I posted. :/ They do have really good build quality and sound for the price though.
