I normally dont watch highschool harem animes where theres 1 guy and many girls around because it seems like im watching a fan service movie that is tailored to attract male viewers by giving them fan service with a poor story but a friend suggested that I watch Clannad and tell him that I wasnt moved by the story so I gave it a shot.

I have to say that this is by far one of the most deep, sad, and easy to relate to anime that I have ever seen. If you cant relate to any of the characters then at least you will learn something from the story and the experience that the characters go through. The first 10 episodes or so are the buildup that introduces the main characters, brings them a little closer, and sets the groundwork for the rest of the episodes in the first season. The story gets alot better after the first 10 episodes but its still a good idea to watch it from the begining, theres a total of 24 episodes in the first season.

After story is the continuation of the first season, it continues from where the main male character picks which girl will be his girlfriend and what happens the last year their together in highschool and eventually when they graduate from highschool and life after.

Story: 9.5/10 Great Story but I would have liked to see the main character end up with a different girl.

Action: N/A Very Little action since its not that kind of anime

Comedy: 7/10 Some scenes are cheesy, but others are hilarious, and its funny and cute how some of the characters act sometimes.

English Dub Quality: 7/10 I generally prefer the dubed version of animes when watching anime so that i dont have to be reading subtitles all the time but in After Story there is no dub available so I had to read subtitles, after compairing how the characters voices sound in both languages I could say that the actors sound better in Japanese. The dub in English is okay but some of the characters like Kyou sound old in some scenes and others sound kind of squeeky for younger characters like Mei.

Rewatch value: 9/10 Good anime to watch more then once, I cant wait until they have the second season in English dub or better yet until they have both seasons in a blu-ray release.

    Overall Score = 9.5/10

You can watch the first season on Netflix

I'm actually not a fan of anime, typically. But I have Clannad & AS and yeah I like them both very much. Not a show to watch if you're too soft of heart, 'cause you'll be bawling half the time. But they did a hell of a job with the details and whatnot; everything is intricate, well thought-out, and real enough for everyone to relate to at least one of the characters.

If anyone's planning on seeing this with English subtitles & Japanese speaking, I'd suggest going with SS Eclipse's work. So far from what I've seen, they've done the best translating job.

Normally I don't watch anime, but I love bleach, which I need to catch up/finish so I might grab this too.

Any place in general to find this at?

Just watched the first episode.. that was pretty good... definitely gonna watch the rest.

animecrazy.net and animeseason.com are where i go for anime and everything

clanned is a great story with a good twist at the end, sad as hell in some parts though lol

ps i dont know how you like dubed more than sub, go watch Air Gear sub and dubed and tell me whats wrong there. seems like all dubs have to have some person from every part of the world and all walks of life in it =/

Yer I had this in my collection before I lost it all when my external broke >.<

Never actually got round to watching it though. I'll move it up the list for when I have finished watching Elemental Gelade.

I like the voices better in the Japanese version but i hate reading subtitles all the time when watching movies :) its more enjoyable just watching it without having to read anything, thats why i prefer dubs. The second season (after story) doesnt have any English dubs however so I had to watch it with subtitles. I will watch anime with subtitles but only if there are no dubs available.

The English dubs are harder to find but if you have netflix you can watch it instantly from your computer in English, if not you could download Clannad from http://www.bakabt.com or any other popular torrent site

I STARTED watching this when it was still coming out, but It kind of bore me a bit. I have heard good things and bad things, but I guess I will pick it back up soon when I have nothing on the table.

Oh and I use http://www.goodanime.net/ for all my anime needs.

Clannad and AS are a great watch. I agree with the original review.
