I'm watching an episode of this right now on History Channel. I use to read a lot about this subject, along with other related things. Was wondering if anyone else has seen this show, and without flaming or getting to out of hand, your possible opinions or thoughts on said issue? /love
I am more a fan of the lost knowledge theory then ancient astronaut. I think that many lost civilizations had knowledge that in certain areas were greater then out current knowledge.
I'd believe this than the spacemen theory. Ancient/lost civilizations can easily have the knowledge/theory behind advanced techniques in certain areas but just didn't have the technology/same level of advance thought in other areas to make it possible.
Nice episode comes on History Channel in about 15 minutes. Pumped! Interesting nonetheless no matter your beliefs.
I have no access to this nor what the ancient astronaut is. Is it a reference to the nazca lines only discernable from high altitude ? As for advanced knowledge by previous civilizations, some examples include the Romans using concrete or Persians using electrical batteries.
It has a lot to do with the fact that recurring themes in drawings from ancient times depict what looks eerily like a modern astronaut. The idea is that they then bestowed knowledge and whatnot to those cultures, essentially creating a way in which the curiously advanced marvels could have occurred. Usually it gets extrapolated to include just about anything including places like the ruins that have such fine carving that not even our current tech can reproduce perfectly. I think I know the series he's watching, it was pretty good.
The dead sea scrolls contain interesting things too about that IIRC. Also a lot of historical facts upon which our current scientific knowledge cast a new light. The destruction of Sodom and gomorrah, medical reports from India dated several millenia, etc ...
I can't really buy the ancient astronaught. It may sound cliche but, this shit is rocket science. From time to time we, today, still have trouble with it.
It also has a lot to do with ancient civilizations building GIANT temples and pyramids (in different parts of the world) aligned with constellations and the solstices. Also they built them with giant stones, cut perfectly straight while stacking them to almost unbelievable heights. Their technology was on par with European technology in the Dark Ages (2000-4000 years later.) What I find interesting is these civilizations were around for thousands of years and then they just disappear off the face of the earth (literally?) There are only three (possibly related) explanations: They left the Earth, they were killed off, and/or everything we are taught about ancient culture is incorrect (or has been purposely forgotten.) Ancient Aliens is one of my favorite shows.
