this has been a strong rumor for a short while now, but ASUS just confirmed it with a picture of their new box for the Crosshair V for AMD (look at the bottom logos): Additionally, this board will use the new AMD 9 series chipset, probably the 990FX. This is the new chipset optimized for AMD's new architecture, codenamed Bulldozer. The actual processor core name for the high-end desktop CPUs is Zambezi. This motherboard uses the new AM3+ CPU socket, which is compatible with all AM3 and AM3+ processors.
i dont think half the people understand what your sayin with all the code names and such but good call on waiting for the next one
hopefully in the next few months the i7 2600k will drop down to about 230 at my store and i can swap my 860 for it and the mobo
yeah i dont think ill do it ... i dont really have the money for it right now ... i will prolly get a 6950 this week (sell radar) then maybe buy the 6950 from AMD and just sell it for a profit and or get a new power supply haha
So I was waiting for these chips and now your telling me there are other chips coming out after these? On top of that these chips won't support SLI or CF?
Well the chips I am waiting for should be released a couple months after Bulldozer is, and it is a server chip. So no overclocking on it, although you can do all the other same stuff. I edited the server chip out of the first post so people dont get really confused. The new chipset is supposed to support Crossfire and now should also support SLI.
These arn't the chips your looking for. Bout damn time.... Ive been thinking about upgrading when i get a job, might consider some of these apples!
"AMD chipsets will not be able to use Crossfire and SLI" I think your title is what's confusing some people. _@:
doh! Ill have to find a moderator to fix the thread title. I made that typo a long time ago, and when I went back to edit it I guess the post title is only what changed, not the actual thread title.
