    both of these cards are midware.. they do not allow for true 60fps at 4k or 90fps in vr with highend settings (done with debugger). both amd and nvidia have capable gpus but are holding them back.

    first AMD the new AMDs being used in xbox scorpio and ps neo are both more powerful than a 1080. since both will be required to do 60fps at 4k. the consumer version of those GPUS will just like the previous gen of consoles will be around 40% better. this is because of costs saving to make the consoles more obtainable. last interation of and cards for xbone and ps4 were amd 7850 which for those who are nvidia camp is comparable to gtx660.
    amd following the path of their professional cards is rumored that the radeon 690 would have onboard hmb no only as gpu memory but to front load an entire game onto the GPU board. this would allow the gpu to grab all textures and send less calls to the ssd for data

    nvidia is already dieing the next gen of GPUS the g104 these right now are being paired with gdrx5 with over 25gb of memory for profesional processing (btw aMd also released their profession card and it is better than nvida by 3x but costs $5k usd more $15000 for nvidia vs $20000 for amd). engineering rumors are the gaming g106 which would be next releases 1180ti would be HMB2 and have 16gb of memory.

    so TLDR:
    xbone and ps4 used radeon 7850 which is equivlent to gtx660

    neo and scorpio will use radeon 650 "radeon just released 480" equivalent to a gtx 1160

    top end consumer version of what neo and scropio use will be radeon 690 with comparable nividia being a 1170ti, 11080ti will be better, unless amd does put a 1tb of hmb2 on card of the 690

    this is all based on articles and the fact xbox and psneo require 60fps at 4k. no card can do that right now.

    ::::::

    save your money for at least another year if you are a 4k gamer or vr gamer.

    if you are 1080p single screen no need to buy anything over a 670 really since they do most games at 60fps. if you are a stickler for fps a 970 will get you 100fps in almost anything.

    also keep in mind that most newer (2015 +) 4k tv screens by sony samsung panasonic lg are 120mhz and have hdr. so you can save $$ and not blow load on a 4k monitor and get more sq inches with a 4k screen for same cost.

    Pft I've ordered a 1070 and I only play in 1080p. Only cause I know i'll be passing it down in 2-3 years anyways.

    The whole notion of this opening post is questionable at best. I wouldn't even worry about it.

    Same. From what I got it only really effects those that are into the 4k gaming and vr realm, which is top of the line gaming at this point and still experimental.

    Im still using my MSI GTX 970 :D thanks for the heads up though, I was thinking of upgrading my monitor to a 4k monitor in the future but now I know to wait on the monitor and video card upgrade.
