Hi guys, my mate is looking to build a gaming PC for around £500. Mouse, keyboard and Screen is already sorted. Please can you source from UK sites such as Amazon, Dabs, Ebuyer. Since the prices aren't a straight conversion. Thanks rapidz
Ill try and look some stuff up after work. With that price, you *might* be able to get away with an i3-4170 CPU. But might have to drop down to either an A8-7670K or Athlon X4 860K. Might be better to go with one of those anyway to put more money towards a better GPU since that has way more effect on frame rates than the processor does in most circumstances.
Give a couple options for the GPU. I can probably swing one discounted from somewhere. So going over £30-40 should be OK.
Well the FX-4100 is also a shit processor so... Those AMD processors are about 20% faster than your 4100 clock for clock, and I am going to try and fit a decent heatsink into the build so the CPU can be overclocked up to an easy 4.2-4.3GHz no matter which processor it ends up with (20% faster than yours in clock speed alone). That should make it quite a bit faster than yours.
These are what I came up with: http://www.ebuyer.com/706948-intel-...l3-cache-retail-boxed-processor-bx80646i34170 http://www.ebuyer.com/507668-asrock...hannel-audio-matx-motherboard-z87m-oc-formula http://www.ebuyer.com/288855-cooler...es-1x120mm-fan-cpu-air-cooler-rr-212e-16pk-r1 http://www.dabs.com/products/gigaby...tml?refs=4294944469-509020000-466810000&src=3 http://www.ebuyer.com/633811-8gb-1866mhz-ddr3-cl10-dimm-hyperx-fury-black-series-hx318c10fb-8 http://www.ebuyer.com/410560-liteon-ihas124-24x-internal-dvd-writer-with-sata-oem-ihas124-14 http://www.ebuyer.com/708134-evga-supernova-550w-gs-gold-80-modular-power-supply-220-gs-0550-v3 http://www.ebuyer.com/510495-cooler-master-n-series-n300-usb-3-0-atx-case-nse-300-kkn1 total: £489 http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Athlon-...qid=1442029283&sr=8-1&keywords=Athlon+X4+860K http://www.ebuyer.com/609504-asus-a...-channel-hd-audio-matx-motherboard-a88xm-plus http://www.ebuyer.com/288855-cooler...es-1x120mm-fan-cpu-air-cooler-rr-212e-16pk-r1 http://www.dabs.com/products/gigaby...tml?refs=4294944469-509020000-466810000&src=3 http://www.ebuyer.com/633811-8gb-1866mhz-ddr3-cl10-dimm-hyperx-fury-black-series-hx318c10fb-8 http://www.ebuyer.com/410560-liteon-ihas124-24x-internal-dvd-writer-with-sata-oem-ihas124-14 http://www.ebuyer.com/708134-evga-supernova-550w-gs-gold-80-modular-power-supply-220-gs-0550-v3 http://www.ebuyer.com/510495-cooler-master-n-series-n300-usb-3-0-atx-case-nse-300-kkn1 total: £444 The Intel system is probably the better one to go with, because games that only use 1-2 threads will run better on it. The AMD system can be overclocked to run at about 4.2-4.3GHz, but even at the overclocked speed will only get to be about equal to the Intel system. The Intel system however cannot be overclocked. The motherboard with the Intel system is also a better board. Other than the processor and motherboard difference the rest of the parts are the same. If you want to look for deals on alternative GPUs, just look for something that is a 4GB model of the GTX 960.
here is what I came up with: | *Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts* | | **Total** | **£473.47** PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor (£92.99 @ Novatech) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo 43.1 CFM CPU Cooler (£16.98 @ Aria PC) Motherboard: ASRock B150M-HDV ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£59.00 @ More Computers) Memory: Corsair 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory (£21.59 @ Aria PC) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£49.80 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card (£155.84 @ Aria PC) Case: Zalman Z3 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case (£25.29 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£42.98 @ Scan.co.uk) Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer (£9.00 @ CCL Computers) Total: £473.47 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-10-12 18:59 BST+0100 Obviously OS is not included... OS was £67.95 for 32bit pr £69.99 for 64bit Win7 EDIT OP if you can squeeze another £100.00 you could bump your CPU up to an i5-6600K http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B012M8M7TY/?tag=pcp0f-21 This would future proof the CPU for approx a 4-5 year lifespan. Option 2 PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£199.99 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo 43.1 CFM CPU Cooler (£16.98 @ Aria PC) Motherboard: ASRock B150M-HDV ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£59.00 @ More Computers) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£23.90 @ Scan.co.uk) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£49.80 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card (£155.84 @ Aria PC) Case: Zalman Z3 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case (£25.29 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£42.98 @ Scan.co.uk) Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer (£9.00 @ CCL Computers) Total: £582.78 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-10-12 19:11 BST+0100 Later on you could just upgrade your Video card... The power supply listed will still allow for all the way up to a TitanX or GTX 980ti You may have already bought everything too seeing as your original post is about a month old now.
There is a few problems with this build... 1. No Storage SSD nor HDD 2. The link you provided for that board is no longer in stock. 3. The CPU I put in my build is Skylake vs Haswell so about a 10-20% increase is clock per clock difference. 4. Neither of us provided the OS, unless he already has an extra copy. Everything else I would say good job and it is a challenge building a system with such budget constraints.
Ya it is hard to fit things like extra drives into a 500 budget. Skylake is really only about 4-5% increase clock for clock in most areas. Only a couple very specific things got up to 15-20% increases in speed. Lower end Skylake models weren't even released when I made those builds
