I'm looking for a service for online backups. I used to use SugarSync but they switched to paid only plans (no more free). I would go with their paid plans but for the price they want, I'm better off buying my own ftp space and using a price of open source software. I've already tried idrive and Google drive. I've got some criteria: -can't force me to put files into a specific folder for them to be backed up -over 2gb would be a big bonus, I can deal with under 5gb -if its paid, it has to be cheaper than me settimg up my own stuff -must have automatic sync to save files once they are edited
Everyone I know uses Carbonite, and it looks like it has unlimited storage space: http://www.carbonite.com/online-backup/personal/how-it-works http://www.carbonite.com/backup/pricing-plans/personal-plans
I've never used this but it looks like you can use it with S3 http://www.duplicati.com/ http://www.duplicati.com/howtos/howto-amazon-s3
I just use Dropbox, but it forces you to place files in a designated folder. I have no complaints though, I get 78GB of space from them (free) for being a student and for all the referrals I've done. I only use 5% of that space.
