I found and built a really cheesy hunter deck so I'm having fun now. My user name on bnet is Deadend but I'm not sure how the friends stuff works on bnet so let me know if you need something else to find me.
Question is how does it stack up to Magic the Gathering? As a veteran MTG player and someone who still plays will I enjoy the simplicity of the game or be turned off in favor of MTG's solid grip over the card game industry?
The best way I can put it is: MtG is Dota 2. Older, more robust, and the complexities/nuisances of the game are fundamental to it. Hearthstone is League of Legends. Newer, faster matches, and the complexities have been reduced but it has its own appeal within its simplified mechanics. Even thought I backed Hex-TCG, I spend more time watching Hearthstone on Twitch because you can instantly drop into a game and grasp game position. Matches are short 5-10 mins so you can catch a few between transitions at home when your grabbing a bite to eat. Either way, it will be free to play so why not try it out. It has it's moments and can get fairly complicated with the more advanced decks but at it's heart it's a fairly brute force game. My advice is give it a try. There are enough quests for gold and packs that if you stick to building up one or two decks you can build one of the more advanced decks with out putting any money in the game. You will have to disenchant some of the good cards for other decks to do it but you can do it. There is no card trading though you can only disenchant extra cards and cards you don't want for dust that you can use to make other cards that you want.
I have a spare key if someone still hasn't gotten into hearthstone beta. First come first serve PM me. --Haha that went quick.. Sorry everyone else :/
I've come to the conclusion that this game is so rng other rng systems are like "fuck that mofo rng in hearthstone".
I play paladin on ranked mainly, fairly fun with equality consecrate combo. Hate relying on top decking but i guess thats with all trading card games. Did go 9-2 on arena with paladin though, had a fairly good deck. Funniest deck was probably 5 flamestrike mage.
This game is pretty awesome for these comebacks or having both players down to 1-4 life and top decking the kill.
http://www.tentonhammer.com/wow/features/opinions/hearthstone-vs-magic So far after playing a little (not a lot) I have come to the conclusion this author did. Experienced card players will dislike its simplicity while newer players will enjoy it. For me the game falls very short when compared to MTG and for good reason. MTG has been around for decades and has perfected its platform. Still alright though. I'll keep playing it and see if my initial opinion changes.
I have been having a pretty good time clearning out the Nax content (Normal->Challenges->Heroics for each Wing). The game is still very enjoyable and while the ranked meta is kinda shit, I still enjoy watching/listening to the tournaments while I am at work. To be honest; I am more excited about this game in one or two years when we get some new cards introduced. Going to keep working on my collection slowly; only two legendaries.
Hey, I am just wondering if anyone in XoO play some dota? I have group i play with but can always use more people, at the least we can get some good full lobby games going.
