Did you do some research and find that it requires the mSATA type of drive connection? I would have assumed it would use any standard SATA connection SSD of 2.5" size.

Yeah. It accepts both. 2.5 slot is being used by a 1tb HDD.

I am extremely interested in how this works for you as I have been looking to get the exact same model due to past Lenovo experience and the sheer price difference to other laptops in its performance range
Do let us know how it works out.

I've been a big fan of Thinkpads, but I've never been terribly impressed with their other lines. Give some build quality impressions once you get it.

I don't keep up on laptop hardware very much...SLI 650s seem like a weird thing it seems like a 670MX would be more appealing to manufactures for simplicity, performance, and cost?

Ok, now that I've had it for a few days, here's what I think.

The laptop has been everything I'd hoped it would be. It has a stealth look to it, with brushed aluminum top cover and palmrest, as well as a glossy, anti-glare LED display. Runs games really smoothly. The display is so amazing, one of my IT friends was 100% sure it was an IPS panel, before looking up the specs. All my friends were blown away by the performance.

The only downside to this laptop is the horrible touchpad (just google it), but if you turn off gestures, then it's half decent. I use a wireless mouse so it doesn't bother me. Also, sometimes my games will abruptly close. Not sure why. Could be a Windows 8 or driver issue.

The large air intake helps keep it cool while gaming, and keeps the laptop quiet while surfing the web. This thing feels sturdy, and still looks esthetically pleasing. All in all, I feel like I got an alienware for $1000. What a steal.

Here's some screenshots I took while playing PS2. I'm using the exact same settings as I would have on my desktop gaming rig. Note the FPS counter on the bottom left.

My friend has this laptop, loves it to death, my father has a similar version, but non-SLI.

    Enjoy, it is pretty sweet

The large air intake helps keep it cool while gaming, and keeps the laptop cool and quiet while surfing the web. Though as with any laptop, gaming produces a lot of heat, however it doesn't become any hotter than other laptops.

Battery life is 3 hours while not gaming. You can't really game on battery power, as the battery doesn't produce enough current to power both GPUs, and the CPU too. (so you can launch games, but they will be choppy)

One more thing I should mention: the power adaptor is huge, but that goes for any gaming laptop.

Some more icing on the cake: the foam padding it comes wrapped in, double as a stand for the laptop. After setting up the stand, my typing on its keyboard improved drastically.

I cannot believe how ridiculously cheap you guys get hardware. :<
    I am officially jealous.

I recently looked at, and bought, a new laptop. I wanted that one, the IdeaPad, but the one we get here is way, WAY below those specs, even if going by the same name, and it's nearly twice the price. :/

Next time I am going to the US, I am SO getting a laptop and smuggling it home.

Why don't you import it? Or maybe a trusted member of XoO can mail you one as a gift, if import costs are way too high.
