Rock Paper Shotgun I'm surprised that ANET hadn't done this sooner. I'm not surprised that they are keeping it running. The hall of monuments is probably causing people to buy GW1 just to get the skins in GW2, which will keep GW1 profitable for quite some time. From the comment section:
Yeah, I'm not surprised that WoC is their last mini-update. Ah well, was good while it lasted. I saw a few comments on GWG bemoaning the class updates that won't come, but doing sweeping changes when hardly anyone is left to enjoy them does seem like a waste of effort. With any luck they'll improve GW2 a little over the years. Wouldn't take much to equal its predecessor, just a few changes in direction.
What class updates do they want ? Flux means that balancing them is no longer an option. Plus regularly changing rules sounds a lot more interesting than a perfectly balanced game that never changes.
A number of classes are still considered widely useless is the PvE meta. But that doesn't really matter, just don't pick a useless class for yourself and you'll go far kid. Considering the game is mostly about achieving HoM gear and titles, you can make up for any class with a full party of mob exploding backliners. Rangers are still laughable in PvE, Warriors similar unless they go hammer build/100 Blade Sweeping, etc etc. Thought at this point I don't know if it was ever worth the effort to change around the PvE meta, something is always going to be the best and that is kinda the way everything in life works.
Xoo Members? No. In general: Yes, there is still a dedicated core that actively plays. Thought unless they are skilled speed runners, or elitist, you are better off running a synergized hero team for efficiency.
I don't play GW1 apart from special occasions now. It seems we do still have 5-10 people who log in every month or so, but really all that's left of XoO are memories.
