Hey Tera EU is going free to play, will the division make a come back ? will there be any players returning now that it is free to play ? I will be login in for sure !!!!
I'm going to be checking it out, although I haven't played it at all before. I'm actually installing the "unlimited" trial as we speak. I hear TERA EU is shit in comparison to NA, though. :/
Not so much the game is shit vs NA version its the company running the EU version frogster aka gameforge.. The game was brilliant until you got max lvl and then there just wasn't enough content to keep you interested, I got bored of waiting for battlegrounds but now they have added them and a raid it may just be worth another look
Game devs negotiate contracts with publishers per region. Tera didn't have a lot of money/it was surrounded by legal issues during the end of dev. so it got some lower end publishers compared to the big boys like NCSoft who has a international publishing presents.
That was not really the case...... But EME is owned by BHS and there was a press release I think over the reason BHS has another company doing EU. NcSoft is not doing all that well if they Sold the rights to both L2 and AION EU version to Innova and GameForge then by how your stating. Also BHS was not found guilty in the end of the lawsuit and BHS is back by NHN and I think 4 other large Korean companies. So they have the money just from what reports where saying the lawsuit NcSoft was failing at was putting ALOT of strain on the top people at BHS due to NcSOft trying to tarnish BHS and TERA name basiclly. TERA could been more I think if NcSoft never tried there lawsuit BHS was trying to avoid anything that NcSoft could used to say OMG BHS used L3 ideals like they tried. Then NcSoft also tried the lawsuit here in the NA against EME and it flopped but did hurt EME since they didnt have huge money pool. NcSoft never went after EU from what I can tell bc Frogster would prob fucked them up and it would hurt them with AION.
I downloaded and played for a bit, really nice looking game. but I cant help but feel it's a bit clunky in it's combat compared to the fluidity and speed i'm used to in GW2. Also whats the deal with not all the classes being able to move and attack at the same time? I dunno if I'll continue to play it, unless I can find some people to play with. I may just stick with GW2 for now.
Gw2 and Tera combat is not the same....GW2 still a tab targeting style game. Tera combat is more monster hunter. Maybe since ur not use to its combat is the reason you think its clunky. Now you do know a lot of mmo you cant attack and move around on some or most skills for a reason just like in LoL. I think its used for a type of balancing But my opinion GW2 combat is clunky and boring where as Tera its about positioning and when to use what skill
It was mainly the ranged combat. I just dont think I could play a ranged class in Tera, having to stop moving to attack while all the melee classes just strafe round me avoiding my slow-moving ranged attacks. By far the most fun I had with it was with Warrior, thats exactly how I imagined a full action-based open world combat system to work. The ranged classes just felt like any other MMO. I know most MMOs dont allow you to move and attack at the same time. Which is exactly why I like GW2 and Tera (I do like it, promise!), Tera just felt like it's ranged classes didn't really fit in with the whole action-based combat philosophy. 99% of skills in GW2 are usable on the move, all classes can dodge to avoid attacks; All classes have ranged abilities, those with less of them have a higher proportion of utility, skills to restrict movement and close distance to offset their lesser ranged abilities. Positioning, battlefield awareness and terrain are just as important as when to use what skills. I got all of those aspects from the Warrior and melee classes in Tera, but ranged classes felt old-fashioned, despite the improved targeting. I like ranged classes in MMOs, and forcing ranged classes to stand still like a turret while attacking as a means of balance feels lazy and i REALLY wanted to like one of them The lack of tab targeting is a godsend, I frequently end up without a target in most other games. But again it was more or less irrelevant for the ranged classes because I was still rooted to the spot whenever I wanted to attack. I do however think I've been spoilt a little bit by GW2 classes all being self-sufficient. I'd wager neither of us have had sufficient experience of each other's games to form a fully-accurate opinion. I totally recognise I've only really scratched the surface of Tera, but the initial impression is an important one: I normally play ranged classes and Tera's almost put me off the game altogether!
I have no issues with rang class like my sorc.... And rangers get stronger late game. There a reason for them to do the animation root thing in TERA. Either have a gimp class that can always move or have a class that does decent dmg that some skills root them. All class's have root animation effect on them to make it a risk to use tho skills. It basically makes you plan out your attacsk then like in GW2 where you kinda do spam only a select few skills just like with any other Tab targeting MMO
What I was expecting was something like Tabula Rasa...but good. I expected to be able to run around swing swords and throw spells like the FPS-action game it professes to be and in that respect, it didn't deliver for me. I don't care for your or their logic that in order to balance the classes they needed to pull back from allowing freedom of movement while attacking. It spoils the action-y feel for me. I can understand high damage/impact skills having greater risk and restrictions, but a basic projectile should have virtually no risk or restrictions. Surely this root restriction also makes kiting incredibly difficult? I mean I remember DaoC and EQ being great fun and just as restrictive, as a caster getting a mob up in your face more or less meant you either needed to be saved by someone else or you died. But that was then and this is now, its just not what i was expecting. I guess I'm spoiled by the freedom given in GW2 then. I'll stick with my Warrior for now and have fun leaping about and slashing stuff to pieces I'm not overly sure how chaining abilities works yet though, I think perhaps i'm getting ahead of myself and it might be explained in time.
Again like I said I find Gw2 combat boring due to it still being a tab targeting type where you just spam said keys till its dead basically. TERA mechanics would have to change to use the same system as GW2. Also Gw2 does have some spells that roots you but they secretly call them channeling spells. In my op Gw2 lacks alot of animations but there a reason due to them not wanting a player to feel rooted in place. TERA has spoiled me on the action combat and non tab targeting system. I know AA im looking forward to but its a tab targeting and Ill deal with it since I like everything else it has but when I try to play AION or Gw2 I go meh due to the combat system
