I like the backlighting and weight system, but man is it fugly. And that thumb-down button is not very ergonomic as it reduces pivot.
Have anyone of you actually used a rat? I have. Its just weird. I returned mine. I say pass on this one, and just marvel at its strangeness.
Its a nice concept to have a fully customizable gaming mouse but, they didn't provide a model that had mass appeal to its users. I was looking at this mouse since I will be getting a gaming mouse shortly. After reading the reviews of some of its users on Newegg, people mostly hated it. There were a few who liked it, which is to be expected with any product. I think if they sit down and work on the design a bit, they would have nailed it.
The mouse is a good idea, but needs to be more refined to get general acceptance. IMO the Razer Naga is the best MMO mouse. It is kinda weird at first but you get used to it. And the ability to click anything on your action bar with your thumb is great.
Got me a Razer Naga recently, while I'll admit it takes some getting used to at first, once you do you'll wonder why you used a normal mouse before. <.< Completely agree with Enigma on this one. Although, that Moba looks pretty decent too.
I have a rat 7, not the new one, but the original, and I rather like the thing, switched to it from the naga, I'll probably buy that new one later in the year. Easily the most comfortable mouse I've ever used, the software needs some work though, but thats about it.
That can be said for most mouse software. I use a a mouse goofy. That is to say, I'm a lefty and use my mouse left handed. A mouse like this is simply not conducive to lefties. To give the mouse its due credit, I was being overly critical when I posted the previous comment. When I palmed the mouse right-handed, it was sublime. Just not for me.
I'm pretty satisfied with my Abbysus (the deathadder without any extra buttons.) I took it to work because it's so stable and comfortable.
I have a RAT7 and I do really like it. It replaced a Logitech G7 because of bad connectivity issues. I have it fully loaded with the weights. I haven't made much use of all the profiles because I haven't been doing much gaming of late. The aim button was nice when I started playing BF2142 again a while back.
The forward and back buttons you click with your pointer finger right next to the main button, this is because where your thumb goes are 12 buttons. These buttons are mapped by default to the number keys above the letters on the keyboard, but a switch on the bottom of the mouse changes them to the numpad keys if you want. Also you can use the software to change which keys everything (including the 12 buttons) is mapped to or program a macro to a button. It took me like a day or so to get used to the different button placement It works really well in MMOs as your entire action bar is right by your thumb. And then you map your other action bars to ctrl + #, shift + #, and alt + # so that way you just click one of those buttons and all other action bars are also right at your thumb. In games like TOR this allows you to run around easily and do things on the keyboard while always being able to click any skill you need at any time
+100000 for the Naga. I bought the Naga Epic back in Oct and LOVE it. It took some getting used to and for the first week I kept swapping the side plate around until I decided which one fit my grip the best (the right side has 3 changable plates.) The buttons are firm enough that you can hold the mouse with your thumb to pick it up and not press a key, but not difficult to push when you need to. It took training to get the tactile response I need of my thumb now moving up and down as well as front and back. I started out with the 1 and 4 key being bound to my Forward and Backwards keys for navigating the web and worked up from there. I used 1 and 4 for main attacks now in ToR, 2 and 5 for Attack and passive pet, and 3 for auto run. I haven't worked in the rest of the keys but I will probably bind markers to 7 - 12 down the road as I don't need to hit those quickly on the fly. The Naga Epic battery SUCKS, even with the LED's off. I ultimately just run it as a corded mouse, but I like that I can change the LED color to Red to match the other stuff in my man cave.
I have never found a wireless mouse I prefer over a good wired one. A shame even the Razer one doesn't sound like it would be an exception Alkihaul!
I noticed no issue with the wireless it self, but if you neglect to put it on the charger it will be dead the next day. Maybe I have a bad battery, I should look into it. I hate cords.
I think for all but the most hard core FPS gamers, wireless is fine. Especially the ones that have a dock to recharge them. Even still, I just prefer a good corded mouse. They just ALWAYS work. I get over any issue with the cord getting stuck or producing any drag with one of these. Every mouse I own or work on has one attached to it. Its really the ultimate solution for me. http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.233085200
