I'm gonna wait it out a bit. Let me know when the game works and I'll buy a copy. Wish I could join in on the fun right now but I don't want to set myself up for disappointment.

it has worked since launch. hit detection is another matter, its client side so there are some draw backs with that.

Thanks... but I know everyone is going through the honeymoon phase right now and I'll wait a bit before hearing what people have to say about the game. I bet in a couple of weeks people will be screaming at EA/Dice to fix the game, but let's hope I'm wrong.

no honeymoon phase was the alpha, the rage phase was the beta, and now were content for the most part.

I want to - it's just that past experience has taught me to proceed with caution. You know that saying, "only fools rush in"... I believe that applies to a lot of new games.

Sooooo tempted... But with SWTOR on the horizon dunno if I want to justify the expense. The beta was pretty rough for me. Lots of one shots before I could even react and it didn't seem very possible to play a run and gun style which is what fits me best.

Who knows though.... It's only money right? :)

The one shots don't happen anymore. It was a super shitty client side registration system. But, always a 'but' with DICE, since its still client side registration you get a lot of around the corner and behind cover kills.

Overall I'd give the game 7/10.

It's good but they lack the amount of destruction their first engine provided, so instead of improving they removed it. Not a good step. Stuff doesn't blow up that SHOULD blow up and the ONLY building you can collapse are the ones they literally copy and pasted from BFBC2. (-1) If it were me personally I'd give this one a -2 because I LOVE DESTRUCTION it adds another element to the game. As it is now its just there to make it look better and adds gameplay value about 15% of the time.

Client Side Hit registration(-0.5) I only took off half a point for this because as shitty as it seems it's not as bad as we see it most of the time. It's in so that shittier systems can have a chance and so ping/lagholes have one too.

Full auto accuracy(-0.5). So here's the deal. In most games if you want to shoot someone at long/medium range you burst fire your assault rifles/machine gunes. Well in BF3 if you do this your gun is going to bounce all over the place and you actually lose accuracy. How it works is that the first few bullets from your gun cause accuracy loss. Some of the guns are worse than others of course but it happens. After that the accuracy loss IS REDUCED if the gun is still firing... This means when you are shooting with your LMG you keep the trigger held and it actually steadys out your gun so you can shoot aim better while spraying like a mofo... Same with assault rifles. It's stupid and another step in allowing the terrible people who refuse to learn to play FPS another edge. But we can all learn to be terrible so its only 0.5 off.

Battlelog. (-1) I really want to give this a minus 2 but since it doesn't effect the ingame(if you can actually make it that far with some people) then I only gave it the (-1). But WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING. The system is complete garbage and no need for it at any point. It's another one of those "Steps back" for dice. Instead of fixing their retarded ingame browser system they decided to remove it all together and give use an actual brower... I don' think that's what the people were saying when they wanted a working server browser...

Graphics are amazing. With the new engine they allow a lot of people to play on Ultra settings while still maintaining a good FPS.

Guns aren't fully balanced but they are at a good spot. Recon aren't super OP like in beta. Sub machine guns are good and can be use very well at longer ranges but still get beat out. Assault rifles were brought up to par.

Maps are great. Some have awesome chokepoints that lead to some sick firefights while others are spreadout and allow flanking squads to turn the tide of battle.

Overall the game is worth buying for some casual FPS. The system is no where near BF2 or CoD in competition worthy gameplay or balance, etc.

That's the kind of post I was looking for Sokar - thanks for the honest review. Unfortunately, after reading that, it's not looking too good for me. :/

Let's hope they fix most of the things you pointed out.

I mean if the balance isn't any better than BC2, and in some aspects, worse, why bother? Like you, I'm very meticulous when it comes to the fine details... as it makes or breaks a game for competition. At least in BC2, I can destroy almost anything.

Or she can get it for $32, but it involves playing with the registry to change language to English.

True! A bunch of us are using the Russian Extended Version(LE Edition for the US) from gilgamesh and it runs fine and was super easy to switch the language.

Honestly I don't feel the game is worth 60. Nor any FPS game that has or will come out and the only reason I bought it was because the REV was only 40 bucks and the game is well worth 40 bucks.
