Anyone else get a hold of this yet? It's actually halfway decent...

I don't even consider that music. Well, I consider it about as much music as banging on metal trash cans.

All I could think about when I heard the one new song on the radio was: this song should be renamed to "The song that never ends" 7 minutes that should have been trimmed to 4 max

When I hear their new stuff it seems like all I can hear is the snare drum getting hit by a five year old.

How is the new album? Do you say they've redeemed themselves from the St.Anger atrocity?

From what I have heard the drums are toned down a lot from some of the last stuff. I liked it better. It gave it more of a raw punk/rock/metal feel, which could sound that way to some.

Overall I probably will not buy the Metallica cd but I'll listen to it on Sirius

Your alot more generous then myself. I consider it toilet paper. They are releasing 1 track a week on their site, but nothing there has remotely caught my ear. Once Cliff died, it all went down hill.

You know, I think the new release I keep hearing on the radio sounds more of a rehash of their old stuff. In my opinion Metallica should give up now, they have made their $$ over the past 20+ years. I always heard people talk about Load being their worst album, well I personally find that to be the only album I ever truly liked by them. St. Anger was trash, hopefully the newest album won't be quite as bad.

I wouldn't call Load their worst album, but it sure doesn't have alot of goodness compared to the previous ones. St. Anger without a doubt holds that title.

Sorry, but after Load, that was it for me, it was shit from there.

The new stuff sounds pathetic. They're one of the richest bands in the world and their stuff sounds like it was written by a bunch of 15 year old Freshman who are going through puberty and started playing their instruments 1 year ago.

The drums are POORLY mixed and sound like shit, even a raw rock/punk/metal drummer wouldn't make their snare sound like that, it's shit, it's terrible, it ruins everything for me.

In music, two things are right off the things that destroy a song for me, 1. Vocals, 2. Drums, both of which are massively poor and fall short in these "new songs". James Hetfield lost his voice a long time ago, he should just stick to singing his old songs instead of trying to write new ones, all of his melodies are starting to sound the same and just aren't catching my attention anymore. Lars just doesn't have a "feel good groove" anymore, nor does he even remotely sound like he's putting ANY energy into the songs that they've done. Ontop of that, no drummer in their right MIND would let their drums be mixed THAT poorly and on top of it, have their snare removed out of their snare drum, it's stupid, Bob Rock is a washed up hack, you heard it from me, I'll say it to his face, he's washed up, he doesn't know what he's talking about anymore, he can't produce this band anymore, he can't reinvent the Black Album, I'm sorry.

Guitar tones are decent, but they could be SO MUCH BETTER!! Like I said, pre-pubescent 15 year old kids in a garage trying to be a rock band, that's all I hear. And their song structure is boring. This is metal fucktards, you have to keep me interested by keeping it melodic and interesting, not the same boring, kinda cool riff, over and over again in a 4, 4 pattern. Granted, Alice in Chains did it, but then again they understood dynamics and good song structure.

I personally think they should fire Lars, get a new singer, give someone an Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer and a good supporting over drive pedal, replace their amps, ALL of THEM, fire Bob Rock, rewrite the whole fucking album with a better producer, and get a better recording engineer on board. Then I'd be interested in listening to them again.

Have you heard the whole album yet? If not, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with Kirk's lead work on this album. Best work he's done since MoP imho.

My only REAL beef, having listened to the album quite a bit now the past few days is the drums. Lars has become so lazy in his playing.

The Vox are indeed a bit weak, but considerably better than that St. Anger mess. The Lyrics are better as well for the most part (THANK GAWD!).

All in all, it's good enough for me to justify buying it when it comes out.

I'll probably dl it then just to make sure it's something I can even remotely stand listening to.

I won't buy this album because I will never give them money ever again, sorry guise, you fuxxed up when you made Load.

Actually Sam, Rick Rubin produced the new album. Easily his worst effort to date.

Yeah, I was hoping for something sick, like when he did "Iowa" for Slipknot, but alas Metallica is no more in my heart. Megadeth though, the never lost sight of what they were. Metal, pure and simple.

Ok... I GUESS you can call that turd of an album Risk a Metal album if you insist. But it doesn't make it any less of an utter and complete turd imho.

OK, not as bad as St. Anger for sure... But... Just.... EWWWWWW

I've heard a bunch of these songs on a local radio station and they were all awesome. For the person that said they heard a song that was 7 minutes long and didn't know when it was going to finish clearly you've never listened to Metallica before.
