My friends are considering me to get one of these as well. I am running on a crappy 9600 GT and i really want to upgrade to a 465 gtx.

I am running on a 450W power supply. Would you reckon I would have to upgrade that too :)

I am a techy noob lol

I haven't done much research on the 465 yet, but if it's built on the same architecture as the 460 and not the 470/480 a 450w PSU may be enough.

465 is built on 470/480 ... I just checked since I'm at work. Our specs say 550w for evga 465.

Or wait til November to see what AMD's new GPUs test at. From what I've heard they're going to launch the mid level class first.

The GTX465 is not as good as the GTX460. Confusing, I know.

The 460 uses the newer and better GF104 core, the 465, 470, and 480 use the GF100 core. However, the GTX460 uses a crippled GF104 core, thus making it not as good in performance as the GTX470 or GTX480.

Here is a list of the changes on the 460/465

    Code:
    Graphics card GeForce GTX 460 768MB	GeForce GTX 460 1024MB GeForce GTX 465 1024MB
    Graphics Processing Clusters 2 2 3
    Streaming Multiprocessors 7 7 11
    Shader processor 336 336 352
    Texture Units 56 56 44
    ROPs 24 32 32
Core Clock 675 MHz 675 MHz 607 MHz
Shader Clock 1350 MHz 1350 MHz 1215 MHz
Memory Data rate 3600 MHz 3600 MHz 3200 MHz
    Graphics Memory 768MB GDDR5 1024MB GDDR5 1024MB GDDR5
    Memory interface 192-bit 256-bit 256-bit
    Memory bandwidth 86.4 GB/s 115.2 GB/s 102.6 GB/S
    Texture Fillrate Bilinear 37.8 GigaTexels/sec	37.8 GigaTexels/sec 26.7 GigaTexels/sec
    Fab node 40nm 40nm 40nm
    TDP 150 Watts 160 Watts 200 Watts

Not listed in the above list is that the GTX460 768MB version has less l2 cache in it which affects compute performance.

Do you guys have the MSRP's for the AMD 6000 series yet?

And I'd go EVGA for step up.
