1. Character Info: 1. Character Info: Name, Class, Main Spec (Link armory): Jov, Warlock, Affliction <Click Here> 2. Explain your talent selection (theorycrafting source, specialization choices etc): I believe that affliction is currently the highest DPS spec for a warlock, although I am knowledgabe in all three specs and have concluded they are all relatively close. Elitist Jerks and Warlock’s Den are my primary sources of information on warlock matters. 3. Your Age: 23 4. Current professions and their raid benefit: Mining/Engineering. Although mining has little raid benefit (I’m debating on leveling Jewelcrafting in it’s place) engineering is quite nifty for my dps output. The cloak enchant (SP/parachute) is currently the highest dps enchant to cloaks for casters and the the tinkering to my gloves (340 haste/min) is amazing damage for affliction warlocks! 5. How long you've been playing WoW and what PvE progression you've accomplished: I have played on Sargeras since vanilla WoW over four years ago. I raided Molten Core with Endgame. After the release of BC I joined a small raiding guild called The Illuminati where I quickly became an officer. We raided Karazhan, Gruul’s, and Mag’s. Evantually, after the guild progression died down and core raiders left, I joined Enraged where I also became an officer. We ran The Eye, Serpentshrine Cavern, Hyjal, Black Temple, and Sunwell! Good times. As far as this expansion, I have full cleared Naxxramas. I have cleared most of Ulduar. I am currently 9/12 Icecrown but I know that I am capable of easily full clearing it given the right opportunity and raid. 6. Describe how you theorycraft your class (websites, spreadsheets, etc): Mostly I theorycraft through my personal experiences with warlocks over the years and the most repuatable websites, previously mentioned. 7. Occupation and living arrangements that impact raiding (family, schedule, etc): I am currently a college senior studying political science. I am unemployed although I am looking for a part time job. Although these may appear to be negative factors I have always been a dedicated raider, which means showing up, on time, with some flasks. 8. List scheduling conflicts (include times for possible weekend 10mans): In all honesty, these raid times are perfect for my school and work schedule so far. I hope to work on the weekends, which would cause no conflict, and most of my classes are in the morning! If anything should change I would update you. 9. Guild History - where are you leaving and why: I have disbanded my own small guild in hopes to join my ranks among dedicated raiders, earn a Kingslayer title, and have some fun with friends!! 10. How did you hear about us? List any friends/references within the guild: I have been playing with a dear friend, Seraph, for several years now. I am sure that I have raided with many of your other members in my many years on this server. I know Iret is also a friend of mine from a while back as well! 11. List your raid consumables and your method for maximizing them: Flask of Frost Wyrm, fish feast, pet food. I figure get as much spell power as I can although I have considered using the haste food as Elitist Jerks claims that haste > spell power for affliction warlocks of my gear caliber, i.e. 3300 spell power or greater. 12. Provide your raid damage/healing performance. Examples are Recount Screenshot with personal breakdown of attacks, WoW Web Stats (WWS), or World of Logs: Unfortunately I have no recent screenshots of my damage, terribly sorry. 13. Provide a screenshot of your UI: <Click Here> 14. Can you take constructive criticism and being call out on mistakes (both in and out of raid)? Yes I can! In fact, I will admit if I know I screwed up. It is part of progression and I am more than comfortable with that. 15. Final comments you feel could help your application: I am a nice, laid-back guy that will help a guildy and do it smiling. I have many friends on this server and hopefully I will make some more. Thank you for your time.
I would like to post, preemptively, that my trinkets need some work! I am well aware that the Sliver of Pure Ice is a healer trinket, but I have, unfortnately, been unable to acquire any new trinkets that would allow my spell power to remain over 3300 safely. According to theorycraft, that is a very important number for affliction!
1. The 453 (roughly 17.3%) hit rating is to ensure that I am hit capped without a shadowpriest. I understand that if I were accepted into Xen of Onslaught as a raider that the likelyhood of a shadowpriest being present is good. I could then rework my gear around them to give myself some extra haste or spellpower at the cost of hit. 2. I do have a mic and am willing to use it! I can hear all that is said in vent, press the PTT binding, and hear it actually make the noise to talk, but then no one ever hears me. I would be willing to buy a new mic but I fear it is my case that is the problem.
just some questions 1. do you have any other trinkets? 2. why no points in soul siphon? 3.why not get the 7+ socket bonuses? 4.do you use any spreadsheets or simulationcraft besides the theorycraft sites?
Sure thing Euclides! 1. I believe I have the Abyssal Rune from ToC5 in my bank. As far as ICC trinkets, no. I have lost Muradin's Spyglass more than I care to mention, lol. 2. After reading this post I have decided to respec! While building my make-shift affliction spec, I never realized that Soul Siphon increased the damage done to Soul Drain. I believe I will remove two points from Eradication, as my haste is high already, and max out the Soul Siphon. Tyvm for bringing that to my attention! 3. You are also right about that. When my character was input into Rawr it determined that I need the 7 spell power socket bonuses from, I think, two pieces of gear. I am worried because, overall, I will lose about 40 haste rating, but after re-reading the Elitist Jerks compendium, I think I need to replace a few of gems with pure spell power gems to truly maximize my DPS. 4. Unfortunately no. I have tried to use spreadsheets and I was very confused! Seraphy told me abour Rawr, which I assume is the type of simulationcraft you are referring to. I am willing to try anything to be as competitive as possible!
Okie Euclides, I have respec'd to gain Soul Siphon and I can't wait to try it out in a raid! I have also reworked my gems through Rawr and I now have almost all of my socket bonuses. Any other critiques are welcome!
Sorry, but due to a recent lack of interest, XoO Sargeras is no longer an active raiding guild until Cataclysm. However, if you would be interested in joining the guild as a friend, ask Seraph to make a post on our forums.
