I'm not a professional at charts and statistics unfortunately but been looking through forums such as elitistjerks beImba.hu and some website there and there to optimise my DPS. I'm a quite skilled healer too The talent build I use on my shaman would be the standard one used by so many others. Why? Because it has all the benefits I can use for synergy, it works great for an optimal output. Also, since the most beneficial stat for the elem shaman is Spell power, getting the most I can with my spec would be a priority. 3. Your Age: 23 4. Cleared everything in WotlK from Naxx to ToC 10/25 (maybe not Ulduar 25... not sure haha) and got Kingslayer on 10 ICC, got some good progression in H ICC and ICC 25. You are over hit cap so resocket your spl pwr hit gems. Spl pwr mp5 gem....um yeah just destroy that real quick. Your spec is fine. Your glyph of lava needs to be replaced by the glyph for totem of wrath. And your dps on that anub kill seems awful low for the gear you have. Can you provide anymore dps links?

We should always have the 3% hit covered by either a boomkin or shadow priest. So if you raid with us, you won't need the extra hit. He isn't dead in the screenshot I do agree, another dps link would be nice if you get the chance. Preferably from a single target fight. Edit: That link should be fine for now
I was looking at your talents and I was wondering... Why do you have [Elemental Warding] rather than [Convection]?
Re Elemental warding is a choice I made concerning progression raiding. Since ICC has many high raid damage mechanism, it's better for me and easier on the healers if I take 6% less damage. About not using convection, even without I do not have any mana problem and it allows me to take Improved Fire Nova helping around with AoE DPS.
hrmmm 130 some lightning bolts cast and yet no chain lightnings.... until the lb cd dips below one second the highest effective dps in a rotation after a lava burst is a chain lightning cast... so i ask you this, why didnt you cast chain lightning at all? And your dps for your gear seems still to be a little low. @twinblades convection is a huge talent for all ele shams to be specced into as to the convinience and helpfulness to healers.
Indeed, I got enough haste to get the 1s GCD and around-ish 1.5 sec cast LB that's why I do not use CL since it costs lots more of mana and isn't as much spell power efficient. I'd use it alot if there was more targets. Never heard about that CL after LvB though, where did you get that? I'll go check it out and make some dummies testing As for the lower DPS well I dunno what to say really ummm... Well I didn't use Fire elem totem or anything else ( only Elem mastery + gloves ) and didn't have any warlock / boomkin / Unholy DK. As well, it might be a little thing but I got 2 build up trinkets involving a slow build up of the damage at the beginning. Edit: I did some testing with the CL but even with convection, I deal about 300k less damage before running out of mana and the DPS change was minor. So I'll try to figure something out there because it's a great tip It seems this rotationdeals some DPS spikes because CL hits at the same time, getting the overall higher than a flat straight dps.
As far as those two talents go Elemental Warding is worthless in a PvE situation in my opinion. Shamans have the lowest base health of any other class in the game and a 6% reduction in damage would not even be noticed. Even if there is no mana issues currently I would still have to say Convection is a much better use of the talent points since it will continue to making sure you will never be out of mana.
Re I did change the talents + gemming + Glyphs according to suggestions . Works just fine As for the DPS, I do not have the screenshot unfortunately, but with a curse of elements I got up to 8000+ DPS on single target. All the previous screenshots could be considered as self-buffed ;-)
until u get chain lightnings cooldown below one second... it is still the higher dmg output... if u have ever researched an ele sham you would know that the rotation is fairly simple as to fs>lb>cl>l>l>l>l>l>lb>cl... the face that you didnt know to follow your lava bursts with this worries me and leads me to believe you havent a clue as to correct rotations/researching your class
Re Saddens me to hear that you think that way. I did my researches and CL wasn't a spell to avoid at all like you said until you hit the haste softcap where it becomes less useful. Since I hit 1080 haste in combat, using CL is mostly a mana waste than anything useful (and yes I checked it alot). Found it was an interesting thing to reinvestigate but it just wasn't that much great after all.
"if your Chain Lightning is over a 1 second cast time then it's more Damage Per Cast Time than Lightning Bolt. What this means is that every second of time you spend casting Chain Lightning will yield more damage than every second of Lightning Bolt. Even though it does less damage per hit the low cast time makes it higher DPS. Once you have soo much Haste that your Chain Lightning starts dipping below 1 second (the GCD cap) then it loses some of its edge in this regard and spamming Lightning Bolt becomes stronger. This is mainly the case when you have extreme levels of natural Haste and/or are using Haste cooldowns."
and btw until u reach 1269 haste which is the cap for two extra lightning bolts in between lava bursts, chain lightning is still used as a filler.
My CL is at 1.05 sec cast and I know I'm not at the softcap yet ( exept when using CDs but that's another story ). Still, for me, the benefits of using CL in my rotation is a downgrade since it burns my mana way too quickly and end up doing, in general 400k or more less damage with a single mana bar. ( The 'more' would be a streak of unlucky non-crits). So yes, I see the point of uping my DPS using CL in my rotation. But it just doesn't increase it that much and I end up sacrificing so much damage done doing it in a single target fight. Edit: Went to get some spreadsheet because this arguing could last forever... Took zap from EJ and entered the config like it would be if i'm self buffed. Here's the suggested rotation, allowing CL's casts all the way after LvB (except during CDs): and the config: And again, with the same config except not using CL at all: and the config: (posted something different earlier, but figured later I totally messed up haha, those one are right ^^) Using CL increase, in average, my DPS by 14 while reducing considerably my MP5 so... yes it does increase it but at the point I am, it just doesn't worth it. That's my point of view ;-) Working on evening the numbers now. Atm, seems like those spread sheets are at an almost idealistic crit rate. Sometimes it just doesn't reach it, sometimes it does. (Just realised I messed up with my spell power, it's at 2986 base, lowering the output at 7400)
Don't always believe all the criticism you receive. Considering everyone is pushing over 35k health, the extra 240 from 2 sp/stam gems is pretty worthless. Now a little extra mp5 for when you ankh, or are even mana starved from a long fight, now that is nice.
