I thought the movie was amazing. I just wish they would've had a bit more of the basterds in the movie.

Overall I liked it, but I don't think it's the best Tarantino has done.

Some of the scenes felt too long with little point to them. I wanted more epic fights and less talking. It did have good amount of violence, comedy, and suspense. Brad Pitt was great. I would say 6/10.

The entire 1st chapter was way to long. Sits around drinks milk, smokes pipe, drink milk. I would rather have have a really short version of that and show more actual battles.
Did they ever really show the bastards in battle? I don't really remember it. I know there was the bar basement, and the movie theater, but that's about it.

I am not saying it was a bad movie. I guess I would rather have scenes like the Crazy 88s in Kill Bill.

I had more interest in the movie before I found out it's a remake of this. ... that actually sounds like a more interesting movie, I think I'll err, rent that one instead. Yarr.

How is that in any way, shape, or form about what Tarantino made? Inspired by maybe but remake no.

If anything its near the Dirty Dozen...

    Hmm, maybe because of this...

"loosely based on"/"inspired by" = "remake of" in my book, sorry. Just because it's not a "direct remake" of the original doesn't mean it's not cannibalizing the concepts of the original, rather than coming up with fresh ideas. Color me not impressed.

Well, I saw it and I enjoyed all of it. I don't have a hard on for tarantino ike a lot of people seem to so I can't comment on the style of this movie vs. the style of his others. All I know is that the violence wasn't over the top, the comedy was good and it moved at a nice pace. I thought brad Pitt did a great job as Aldo Raine (sp?) and all the other characters were quirky. I just read an article in GQ about how Pitt only appeared in 40 minutes of the film which was......~2.5 hrs?

    I would recommend seeing it.

Also, who cares if it is based on or lossely based on another movie? There are a ton of those out these days and I am sure you yourself have seen one or two of them and possibly not even known it was a remake or liked it better than the original.

    Honestly, I'm hard-pressed to find a movie that's not.

lol. That is just a sad statement and makes me wonder if you even saw the movie or let alone read anything about the two movies. Fresh idea? The only thing that was the same was nazi's got killed.

If your statement is in fact true why do you even watch movies? I'd say every great movie thats come out in the last 15 years is loosely based/inspired from another movie/book/etc...

Well, what I gathered from his interview on NPR this morning was that its about as much a remake as King Kong (which he directly contrasted how the "remake" lost the subtext of the past slave trade and the racial issues of the time the orignal was made) was. At the time, I was exhausted and running late to work, but in retrospect, it seems that the subtext is the key and that seems obvious from his past works. It's obviously a remake by your definition but it will certainly have the subtext that his work is known for and thus more original that you seem to assume.

I didn't like it. I thought there was to much talking and for the film to named after the group you would actually see them in action, bar and cinema don't count as you only see 3 and 2 of the members.

This movie was fantastic. For those of you who's biggest issue with the movie was the lack of utilizing all the Inglorious Bastards, the movie would have needed an intermission to be able to do the same justice it did for the characters they chose along with the rest of them.

This movie was all about buildup of a few select people. The opening chapter builds up the villain, and does an phenominal job at that. The members of the "IB" that didn't get a buildup, didn't bring anything to the story other then BEING a member of them, essentially, making them the posse (sp?).

The whole posse didn't get a background and scene tailored to them? I can deal with that, and my skinny butt thanks Tarantino for not making the movie any longer which would have just made it hard to sit through even in all its bloody, vindictive glory.

    So yeah, I loved it!
