Watching the panel right after the WoW class panel, the lead writer for SCII said that things will be wrapped up nicely at the end of SC2, but will definitely leave things open for the expansion.
They already said that Starcraft II is going to be released as 3 seperate games 1 = The Terrains (Wings of Liberty) 2 = The Zerg (The Swarm) 3 = The Protoss (The Void) now their planning expansions for those 3 separate games that should have been a single game?? talk about squeezing your moneys worth out of a single title.
It depends on how many missions and content each game ships with and how much they will cost, before you can really call blizzard niggardly for their choice. Im perfectly happy paying for all three games if they come with the amount of content I think the price tag matches.
You do realize right, that the amount of missions you had in SC/BW total, will be the amount you get in each different game right? If not more missions than BW had in total. Each game will have its own massive story line.. So this way you get to experience a whole new type of Story line within SC instead of just spending like 8-10 missions or something for the whole story. And by expansion I mean, past the SC2 storyline. I.e all 3 "games" combined is SC2, then there will be an expansion as well.
I don't understand why people are still complaining about this. Each game has a lot of missions. It has as many missions, if not more than classic SC or BW. They are making the campaigns very long, as opposed to having 10 missions per campaign. If they were to put it all in one game, they probably wouldn't make any money off of it because of the development cost.
Starcraft is a huge game, They are mad not to make expansion for it. A really good example of this is Command And Conquer by EA, Hell they could kill the main character off 100x and still make an expansion pack and have him star in it and then say we wont be making another, Yet he stars in the next and the next. If they had any sence they would have rolled out Starcraft 2 and 4 expansions, Made half of 3 and hinted 4 by now.
Bow before the will of the immortal Kane As long as they have a huge amount of content quit bitching would you have prefered them to just release like 10 missions per race and not had the epic story that SC deserves?
Aren't the Protoss and Zerg, campaigns being sold separately from the Terran campaign? $150+ for a game is enough without expansions.
