My nephew almost got hit by a flying chair and a flying table landed next to my car. There's been reports of one dead so far and many injured.

Thankfully we're all okay and our house just lost a few shingles, but some others got fucked. This is rare and has never happened in southern Ontario for maybe the last 50 years. Funnel clouds were spotted across the region.

These are some video stills of me filming the aftermath just down my street. This house lost its entire roof and second floor. Tomorrow I'm gonna go around it and see what else got destroyed (if it's not cordoned off). Panacea brought to my attention that insurances don't cover acts of God. That's sad.

    Actually,

Back when the movie twister was out a tornado went through the drive in and tore a hole through the screen it was playing on. Not quite that magnitude but there have been twisters here in the last 50 years.

Holy crap man, that's crazy. Good thing that you got through unscathed. I feel bad for those people who lost so much in it..its BS that insurance doesn't cover a natural disaster.

Jesus Ru, it was that bad there? I didn't think you guys got many that close to Toronto before.

Reports of 'nadoes down in Wisconsin near where I was this past week. Tons of storms all over Ontario and a lot of the Eastern states today...

I guess in Oklahoma we have so much of this crap that you actually have to get Disaster Insurance. Good to hear you guys are ok.

Yo dude that storm went just past my house and I'm in Burlington just south of you. That storm was INTENSE! I swear there was a tornado close to me cause I was outside watching the thing (and me being a private investigator I was also checking up on other peoples houses in the area) a bolt of lightning struck about not even 100 meters away from me and WHAT A BANG! Never heard it so loud in my life. Shit was flying everywhere!

That's nuts man. I'm glad you all are OK. Strange how we didn't get this on the news here in Sask.

More reason why you should never buy a house without a basement.

I am glad you and your family are safe.

Glad you are okay, i saw the coverage this morning. Massive damage, amazing there wasn't more deaths.

FYI, though, tornadoes happen regularly in Ontario. They just seldom hit anything worth making the news.

I saw one from my house a few years ago - they are both fascinating and terrifying.

Was an amazing site to see this crazy wind and WHAT A LIGHT SHOW!

Seriously? I'm over here in NS and we heard a fair amount about it, and everyone here (including the media) is shitting their pants about hurricane bill... sort of getting sick of hearing it, since its a cat 1 and I don't think the eye is even making land.

pffft you're not in Halifax, you're in sacktown :p if memory serves.

last I heard the eye was only going to clip bridgewater and the north-eastern coast... but it was awful close to the east coast we're on...

then again, that was cindy day.

No tornadoes in the last 50 years? Southern Ontario is part of tornado alley we get tornadoes every year and there's usually at least one that makes the news every year. Glad to hear you're okay though, there have been some massive storms down here too and we've been pretty close to a couple of tornadoes forming

My quote came from several different police and fire officials working at the scene of the disaster :) Based on my personal experience, I'd say their statements are correct (because personally I've never heard of any prior to this one).

Maybe there's been tornadoes before, but nothing of this magnitude in my city. Though I'm sure it pales in comparison to disasters south of the border.
