I put together a concert for September 6th. I booked the bands and everything and now I need to make some promotional posters. The problem is I suck at that kind of thing. Here is the information: Bands: Take Cover: http://www.myspace.com/takecoverofficial All The Right Moves: http://www.myspace.com/alltherightmoves Hillhaven Raven: http://www.myspace.com/hillhavenraven Thoughts of Crossing: http://www.myspace.com/thoughtsofcrossing Take Cover will play last (i.e. most important in the poster). All The Right Moves should be 2nd in importance. Other info: - Sunday September 6th, 5:00pm - House of Bricks, Des Moines Iowa (525 E. Grand Ave) - All Ages - $10 at the door Here is what I made today: I know someone can do better. I feel bad I spent so much time on this poster and it doesn't look that great. All images were taken from the internet. If someone can make an awesome poster I will print it off and post it all over town to promote. I'll give you forum rep in return. If not, I'll just print mine off in black and white. It looks 'ok' that way.
You can try luck at www.99designs.com and offer a 100 $ reward... that should do it. Doubt youll find a designer that would do that for free. sorry m8
now, you may find people in guild that would do it cheaper though I'd agree that a for-profit event poster won't be free
While it's a profit event, I am not profiting from it. I set up shows as a hobby and just give all the money to the bands. At the end of the night I get to see bands I like play and they get money. So I don't have a budget for advertising.
In all honesty, if you just change the poster to be a different colour, and change the text accordingly that sign would be fine.
My editing tools are limited to MSPaint and MS Word. So the issue I had with a different background color is the white background of the images. I had photoshop back in college... Oh man I am old. I haven't had photoshop since 2005. What background /text color would you suggest? Thanks, Val
I think he means just go to office depot and buy some colored paper. You could still print it in black and white, but if you printed it onto a brighter colored paper (Green, Blue, etc.) it would still be flashy without having to be complicated.
Wow I did not read it that way at all. I like the way you think. I wonder if my office would notice if I switched to a different color paper in the printer... I'm going to call that plan C. Plan A is try to come up with/ beg someone to help come up with something better. Plan B is print them in black and white on white paper.
Honestly I think the poster you have now is fine, except I don't think the font you chose goes well with the band logos. I'd go with something less "script-y" and more blocky/bold, but that's just personal taste. *shrug*
Here is what I made on Friday. It took me quite awhile but overall I am happy with it. Edit: If you see the special spelling error note it has been fixed. http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/4571/poster2gfd.jpg
I am a nerd. I got really excited when I went to Take Cover's myspace and saw the poster scrolling in the show fliers section: http://www.myspace.com/takecoverofficial Also Hillhaven Raven have made the poster their profile picture. http://www.myspace.com/hillhavenraven So I must have done an ok job if the bands are willing to post it. I am as good as Koyji.
Yeah. I guess they didn't care. It is my fault though. Anyway I sent them updated links to fix that. Here's another one I made for fun. I read the article on the beer thrower and the picture made me laugh. Enjoy. http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1769/poster3z.jpg
