  1. supercool

I was amazed it was only 20k. be neat to see one.

  2. If it wasn't all wobbly and weird looking I'd be more enthusiastic.

I'm not seeing how it looks 3D.

Hmm, the ability to manipulate the image was pretty cool, but other than that it kind of seems like a real step down from just projecting on a screen.

Well it is projecting the display onto a wall of compressed air, so the air currents in the room (and this would create turbulence) would cause problems.

It looks 3D in the same way that a TV screen looks 3D, or a photo looks 3D. Things in the image that are further away look further away because they are scaled down.

I'm guessing that the sensor to locate your hand is separate from the display itself.

I don't know about you guys, but I prefer a control system that doesn't require my hands to get between my eyes and the display I'm trying to look at.

Overall this is an impressive technical achievement, but not something I'd actually want.

  6. You know damn well those dudes tested that with porn already.:D

I see you know the rule of first adopters

  8. Looks like someone was watching a little too much SeaQuest DSV...

  9. looks cool, lame that it isnt 3-d though :(

Can be cool if it was used to bring up maps and such from one portable unit if you're lost in a forest or somewhere without a solid projection surface. Even then, it's probably more practical to bring up a roll up projection screen and a small projector.

Or a laptop. Did you see the size of the base unit ?

Edit: Also you can't ignore the effect of wind on the display.

  12. Very cool but the waviness sucks and there would be no way to make it 3D if its projecting your going to see it on the first bit of compressed air it hits and cant change that

Very interesting, I personally think that THIS is the best usage of holograms up to date.
Maybe some day in the Star Trek future beams of light will be able to pick up solid objects... somehow... >.>

  14. Interactive porn.

  15. I think its the best use of it too. Great video
