I still have notebooks full of quest dialogue from EQ >.< back in the day when i took 2 weeks of camping for a mob to spawn and the drop you wanted was only 10% chance. You always wanted to kill someone if they ever killed the mob you were hunting in a very very violent fashion.
So when I logged back on I knew what quest I was doing back in the original they didnt have any type of quest log so If you forgot you were fucked.
Because no one can talk about TOR since all they give us are cinematics or how they add voices, like adding voices to a game is such a cool and interesting new concept that has never been done in any games before... WTB freakin gameplay already and actual information like PvP, End-game, etc.
Cry more, how dare they design a game and add something like voice to every single thing when they keep talking about story as being their new pillar. And how dare they tell you about it either.
I don't think we'll hear anything on the PvP till beta starts. God knows when that will happen =( I doubt it will be anything special though.
Meh as long as there is PvP and I have a feeling after they get there story stuff down theyll focus on the PvP after all it's the biggest part of this time period republic vrs sith
Who gives a crap about story? If I wanted "story", I'd read one of the hundreds of Star Wars novels already published. Ooo, they added voice so now it's more like a movie. Great, I didn't already have 6 dvd's full of Star Wars movies. I want good gameplay and good game mechanics, not more stories and movies.
Pretty much my answer as well. If they wanted to make KOTOR 3, they should have made KOTOR 3. This is an MMO, they should approach it as such. The game will probably be good and they still have plenty of time to show the important stuff but it just feels like they are overhyping the game with crazy cinematics/screenshots and smooth talking Devs promising everything anyone wants. So far they have not impressed me at all. Several features have been removed and the game has been in production for nearly 4 years now. Last time I watched a Dev Blog movie he pretty much said "Ya we couldn't get space and spaceships in time for launch, but don't worry we added a bunch of voices to pretty much every annoying aliens in the game". Oh well, let's wait and see I guess. I'd say another year and a half or so.
I personally liked the voices in EQ2, if you don't like story based MMO's STFU EQ1 had TONS of lore that most people skipped by but it made me fall in love with the game and go out hunting for more information on the story. Kazic thule freeing the iksar from the sarnak and how the iksar rose to almost dominate the entire world until the dragons stepped in and they pretty much killed each other off. How do you think WoW was able to stay in the picture for so long? They had the story and the lore from the Warcraft RTS games that alot of people loved. You might not like story You might not like the history and not need a reason to go kill this guy or raid this dungeon but there are alot of players out there who do.
The story might be nice but I am not going to sit around and wait for some NPC to tell me some 5 page story of his life. I think I might do better on the Dark Side. In Game Dialog: ME: Do you have the Holocron? NPC: There is an interesting story on how I..... ---Light Sabre Slash ---The NPC was just killed ME:Thank You ---You receive the Holocron I admit that in WoW I read some of the "books" lying around. I liked the stories of how the diffrent Dragon Flight were formed and the history of the Night Elves. I read those on my own time when I just wanted to explore.
Theres always the choice to skip it sooner or later something like carbonite or quest helper will pop up and people will have there "EASY MODE NOW PLZ!!!@!!!" I dunno im just griefing with the loss of a lot of what MMO's were about now its just OMG have to get to end game to raid for PHAT LOOTZ. Raiding is nice but i need a reason to go out and kill stuff besides finding the E-Peen growth formula.
If they make Bounty Hunters truely as awesome as they truely are Jedis truely will have a bad day. Also as a Bounty Hunter who needs the force when you have credits?
I would definately love to try this game out when its released, but that wont be until Q2 or Q3 2010. It has potential though, the Star Wars universe is very interesting and from what ive heard Star Wars Galaxies was fun until they released the "upgrades" that messed up the game. I would have loved to see the player cities aspect of the game and the crafting system sounded like alot of fun as well. The old republic wont have guild cities however, I heard you can make a home in your spaceship though but its not the same thing as owning a house on a planet.
