So if you were to play it would that make you cool considering your current status?

Whats wrong with this game? I think it has a great concept.. Cops and Robbers... Tho I have a feeling it'll be poorly designed and suck balls..

    Never played Crackdown?

APB = Crackdown with human opposition and VAST customisation. Can't get any better imo.

    Another APB Article...

    MMORPG

What interests me with this game design concept is the approach to gaining skills. I hate grinding through levels... which unfortunately is so common, even with the new MMOG's. It may be the one thing that kills Aion for me. But this game looks and feels like it may be different and interesting. We will have to see. Hopefully, XoO will be able to get some Beta Keys and I will be able to get one. I would really like to see how this game plays.

That is what scares me. Crackdown was vastly overrated by it's community. Granted, you would think the developers have learned some valuable lessons since.

You're the first person I know to think it's over-rated :O It's longevity was somewhat lacking but the gameplay was solid and flowed really nicely, a good level of polish. The pace felt a lot like the first couple of GTA games, plus it was fun now and again to log in with a friend and throw skips at them ;)

Just a note... I read an interview with one of the APB Dev's that said all Enforcers would be required to wear a badge, though they would be free to dress anyway they wanted otherwise. The Criminals, however, would be able to dress like civilians or whatever... but could not wear the badge. So that seems to be the way they are going to deal with distinguishing between good guys and bad guys... a badge.

It was also said that when a charactor gets a mission, an opposing character will get a mission to go against them. The game will match levels and such so as to maintain balance; but otherwise, the pairing would be random. Other characters on the opposing side would not get any benefits from stopping the character from completing the mission, except the one assigned to stop them. This assignment system is suppose to stop two opposing characters from getting together and saying 'I will let you win one if you let me win one' type strategy.

This is the link to the interview... however, I am not sure one can access the webpage. Two reasons: 1) the Ten Ton Hammer Website has been acting funny lately and may need a few refreshes to get at; 2) The article may be in a 'Member Only' portion of the Website, which may take a few days for non-members to get access to.

the only thing I didn't like in crackdown was trying to get the last 5 or so orbs before they added in a better detection system.

LEx, thanks for the links - some interesting reading. The more I look into this, the more I like it.

Could APB be a game that unites the diverse membership of XoO?

It should have enough action to keep the FPS crew happy and enough customization to keep the MMO lot happy. (Hell, from the podcasts, the customization is enough to keep everyone happy. Any budding fashion designers here, get ready to make a name for yourself through this game. . .)

Ok so the missions are limited to 100 player instances but the idea of pairing gamers from both factions against eachother in pve missions just sounds really awesome and will allow good players to excel. And the last major instanced game for XoO was Guild Wars where we were a force to be reckoned with.

Just seems to me that APB may be a sleeper hit for this place.

I will definitely be paying more interest to this game from now on. (Roll on Q1 2010!)

I'm gonna try it, but I'm skeptical of this whole Q1 2010 business, especially with all that they say will be in the game. My money is on a year from now.

I think more members have interest in KOTOR than this, anyways. I can see that as uniting the clans! (<- Braveheart accent)

I guess it would depend on what the fee is for this.. if its free to play (like GW) then i will def pick it up and play Star Wars along side it.

That would be nice. XoO is having a hard time maintaining anything because everyone is all over the place and leadership is lacking as well as quality members.
