Directed by Tim Burton...perfect. more images here http://www.cinematical.com/photos/alice-in-wonderland/ Trailer is here... http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20293045,00.html synopsis Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice) attempts to work his gothic magic over one of the best loved stories of all time... Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There', which first told the story of a young girl, who after following a rabbit down a hole, is transported to a strange world. Whilst the disney version of the tale relied on sweetness and light to delight the audience, Burton fans can be sure to look out for the same cartoon traits as earlier masterpiece 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember. Among those who welcome her back is the Mad Hatter, a part tailor-made for Johnny Depp as he collaborates with Burton for the seventh time. "This character is off his rocker," Zanuck says. Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, 19, best known for HBO's In Treatment, has the coveted title role. "There is something real, honest and sincere about her," Zanuck says. "She's not a typical Hollywood starlet." There is the usual Burton-esque ghoulishness (Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen, whose favorite retort is "Off with their heads," has a moat filled with bobbing noggins), but Zanuck assures most kids can handle it. "The book itself is pretty dark," he notes. "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."
As long as its nothing like that god awful cartoon shit he's done in the past. If its like Beetlejuice and Edward, it will be AMAZING!
is it just me, or are his eyes looking in two slightly different directions? Anyhow, yeah it looks like it might be good. I will watch it when it comes out.
his left eye (right one when you look at pic) looks larger than the other one to me, not opened more just larger overall.
this explains what happened to the video link... Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Teaser Trailer Leaks Early
one more tidbit...it can be seen in 3D... There are going to be some really high people at that showing.
Yeah, I hate that they're making a lot of movies 3D now, but I just saw the trailer for Alice in Wonderland and it looks awesome. I'm pretty sure I'll see it no matter what.
what do yall think about making movies in pg13 and R, just have scene extended some and show the guy getting shot or do it from a diff angle so you can see the blood or something, seems like it wouldnt cost much more and they would pull in a bigger range of viewers
well wish movies were in R because I want that extra blood splatter or whatever the case maybe.. problem is money will be made more with pg13 since young kids could go see it.
I've been seeing a number of movies in 3D at the local IMAX here in seattle. The glasses are nothing like the 1950s red/blue lenses. They look like a pair is slightly tinted sunglasses. I am not a huge fan of 3D, it seems gimicky. But the wizard battle at the end of the Harry Potter movie looked pretty damned awesome in 3D. I am super stoked to see this movie though. I think the movie is a perfect fit for Burton's quirky style. And Depp should rock as the Hatter. --Zy
I saw journey to the centre of the earth in 3d and I enjoyed it. The glasses were okay but not great. They are uncomfotable to have on your face for 1hr+. I don't know why they dont make cheap sport glasses. Just use a cheap polymer instead of the more advanced ones that companies like tifosi use. I know the fit for glasses is highly individual but the ones I had were just atrocious and my friend agreed. oh, and this should be pretty cool to see.
