I was there 30 years ago..a long time member of the.. "disco demolition army" of insane coho lips. If you seen the videos... I was the guy with the 2 foot mohawk jumping the fire at centerfield...we grabbed second base and set it on fire...that was 1979..and yes I was a punker. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090712&content_id=5837784&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb here is some video..good times
as they mention in the news cast...we had other meetings...he would call his disco demolition and we would assemble at some disco club....or park...and PARTY!!! ....it might be hard for some today to imagine the fight against disco...how much it was hated. Disco is dead.....rock lives on....Yay!!!!!!! (keep a close eye on house music....its sounding like disco....)
Lol, yep. You guys didn't kill it, you just put it in a coma for 25 years. And it's been stirring... Muhahhaha. *rubs fists evilly*
Unfortunately that video shows the fire in center field..its started at second base. I was running bases... I started at first base..home plate was covered in police.. As if stealing second I took off ..I stole second base while its on fire...then someone really stole second base and took off running with it.. I got up and took off for third..looked to homeplate and there was about 6 police there...how many chances would I ever have again to slide into home? none..I went for it...headfirst slide between the legs of the police. I didn't make it..I was tagged out..out the park. One cop even made the umpire motion and yelled your Out!! about the time you see the fire in center field..I'm being escorted** out of the park. A couple of swift nightsticks to my stomach and out the gate....to a party ..another 15000 disco army was outside that could not get in. I knew it was going to be trouble that day...when they stopped taking the records from everyone. We got in for 98 cents if we brought a Donna summer album to blow up. They had stopped taking them from people..and just let us go into the stands with them. dumb move number 1 !!!!! You had to watch your head...albums/records were flying. Also there was not enough police....and we had already caused 3 riots before this. dumb move number 2 dumb move number 3..letting our leader, radio host " steve dahl" onto the field to blow up the records. it was all over at that point....
