Ok Operation Flashpoint will be better than ARMA 2. I thought Codemaster were doing ARMA and Bohemian were doing Operation. Codemasters have been shitting gold for months with their games Operation Flashpoint will just be another brick of success.
OPF2 is going more arcade game play then ARMA2. Bohemian did OPF1, but codemasters owned the OPF name, so when Bohemian and codemasters went their separate ways, they couldn't use OPF2 as a name for their new game, so they put out ARMA instead. OPF2 may be fun, but it's not really being considered a follow up to OPF1 in anything more then the name. Spec, there are "YouTube" BB codes. Wow I wish I would've seen this thread before everyone went nuts over ArmAII. This game looks so much better. It even seems to have a better gaming engine, graphics engine, etc...
doesn't this game release in November? 5 months...IMO a game that is played for 5 months is money well spent. Maybe not Arma2 but, waiting continually is pointless. Something that seems better will always be close and on the horizon.
Yea but Arma2 just doesn't show enough promise for me to spend 50 bucks on it before Operation Flashpoint 2 comes out. I can agree with the 5 months in a way. But I spent 50 bucks on CoD4 and played it for almost 2 years and its only had 7 patches. I don't want to support game companies that release unfinished products with the promise of updating it down the road. Release me a finished game and I'll spend 50 bucks on it. Then improve and tweak it with patches not finish what I should've bought in the first place. Xen has been jumping on every game that comes out, myself included, hoping we get something good to actually play. It's hurting us in the long run creating less and less base members to buy the good games when it comes out. We all don't have 50 bucks to spend whenever a game comes out that may or may not be good. If we jump in on a shitty start and quit then we just created a few skeptics for the next game that may or may not be good. Moral is that I'm not jumping on ArmA2 because I played it and it doesn't feel like a game that is anywhere near finished its not even eye candy at this point. AA3 feels more finished and its a free game.
Not trying to sway you either way.. but every game that I've bought at release day has in some way been unfinished. IMHO that's just the nature of the beast. Release day (and up to a month after) is always on rocky ground, you get the good with the bad.. play early, deal with bugs. Does that mean we should never buy games release day? nah.. sometime you just have to take a risk But obviously, don't buy a game you don't think you will enjoy.
i waited a few months on CoD4 and wasn't too far behind the average player within days. depending on how "promotions" work on fps's, a month or two shouldn't matter in the long run, but saving money while it proves itself isn't a bad plan
