The Trooper is an elite combat specialist in the Republic military armed with heavy blaster rifles and nearly impenetrable armor designed by the military's top engineers. Trained to beat almost any odds, the Trooper battles deep behind enemy lines to carry out precise, hard hitting strikes against the enemy with a barrage of blaster-fire and a few carefully aimed firebombs. Even Sith Lords are wise to think twice before engaging in combat with the Trooper – this is what it
Depends on how the tropper was equipped, gear that gives them a high will, ( or even force resistance/immunity ) and resistances/immunity to electrical and energy and the sith lord wouldnt scratch them. Assuming of course we see a similar play style to that of the previous kotor games anyway lol.
Sith Lords still have what we call a lightsaber you know, they just hardly need to use it. Just saying it's very unlikely the trooper would be able to do anything. I can understand why they will in the game though, they need to balance everything. Can't really blame them and I am still looking forward to the game but I think they should announce the Jedi/Sith classes already.
Lightsabers do mostly energy dmg, though this can be altered with the right crystals. So anything that gives a resistance to energy dmg or even something that can absorb it ( energy shields could take up to 200pts of energy dmg per charge if i remember ) would make the lightsaber nearly useless. Again im assuming that they will use a similar system to that of the previous kotor games. The game wont be just about your character though, most games bioware have always released have been more about your team build, i.e you and your companions which is what they are doing here. You need to think about what 'team' will be most effective for you or what you will enjoy using most. At the moment it looks like you can have only one companion but that could change i guess. I plan on making a Jedi with some kind of combat driod
One thing that they MUST do or it will crumble just like SWG. Do NOT give EVERYONE JEDI capabilities as SOON as the game comes out... That is what ruined SWG for alot of people, myself included. Nothing worse than seeing 200 million jedi's running around.
The game is ABOUT jedi's, this is during a time when jedi's and sith were huge in number, like thousands of them. So being a jedi right away will be allowed if you decide to choose that class.
I could also see it working if Bioware decided to make everyone a Jedi or dark Jedi, as long as they thought about it. I'm only aware of one thing in the SW canon that could block the force, a Ysalamir. So unless the trooper is going to carrying one of them around, I don't see how they would be able to survive things like a force choke, or someone using telekinesis to cause serious internal injury. If Bioware are going to introduce some other technology that dampens the force, they had better also explain why that technology is lost. But the worst part is that I can see a few ways for a heavily armoured character to go 1 on 1 with a force user and win. They all involve covering the area of the target in enough firepower that the target can't dodge everything, usually from a safe distance. But up close the force user will be at least able to get a draw.
Eh, a direct force resist item I cant honestly recall from the game ( but i think there is one in kotor2 ) however, a high resist in will and fort would save you from alot of dark side powers, immunity to mind affect ( which i know exists in the game ) will save you from certain status stuff, and immunity to electricity would stop force lightining, and of course a energy shield. I guess with TOR, they have the chance of adding alot more stuff into the game since theres more room with the lore to work with and we might see some interesting items surface.
Personally, I think would roll a BH or Smuggler ... hopefully they integrate some form of BH system like in SWG
I'll be a sith of some sort, depending on how they finalize the breakdown of force skills, with a bounty hunter alt
