I'm just started helping out tonight, a more simple straight to the point layout would be good. We'll look into it and see what we can do.
If this involves grouping forums into a "Click for five subforum then five more" dont fucking bother.
There are settings to alter your default post box, this is a good opportunity to study the settings in your control panel. I do have to agree that the default setting should not be basic basic editor mode though.
In my honest opinion, we had this discussion before, the answer was simply we had the layout designed because it was SMART. The orange text we had was a little brighter so it would contrast the background better than this current orange (we chose it because of our old background, it was light enough to not have too strong a contrast off the old orange). Why orange text? It's a color that does not match other colors very well, so it wouldn't unwantingly blend with other images, text or aspects of the forum. Why 31/34/35 instead of our current 2/2/2? Simply because around a 90% dark color (as apposed to a 99.5% dark color that we have now) blends better with colors because it is a middle ground while still keeping within the dark section of the shade line, and dark (which blends well with most colors, light or dark) and colorless (so it contrast colors better, and makes the more vibrant) and not being black means that it also compliments black well enough for it to be used in the forum without the need of a bordering or blending. YES we CAN have better themes, and we can have so many amazing functions and graphics and add-on doodads blah blah blah, but almost everything people CAN think of is subjectively preferable to their own style, where as there's actual fashion theory to back the old settings. But anyway, as long as people keep voicing their opinions we eventually will fall back to something the current members will enjoy (assuming our graphics team caters to the demograph and not themselves) and that's the goal right?
Just have the option to have the users choose, isn't that a possibility; so in general everyone can have a skin they enjoy, or somewhat do.
The blue and white is fine for now Just be patient and they wont have to waste time on temporary fixes and they focus on a more permanent skin
WORD. I would also like to take a minute to point out how shitty it is that because of my people's use of the rainbow flag we have somehow managed to usurp the symbol of the rainbow for everything, everywhere....so much so that universities and corporations changed logos to eliminate their rainbowy-ness. I think heterosexuals should man up and reclaim rainbows, starting with the XoO forums. Rainbowy-ness should not have to = queer. Rainbowy-ness should = pwnage. While we're speaking of gay rainbows, however, I'd like to compliment Secksy on choice of avatar... Now that you are all like I'll try to save the rest of my flag-waving for this weekend. DUDE! That's a Bbqaatxe smilie!!!!!!!! OMG WANT!!!!!!
