I have read a bunch, and there was an entire story line that dealt with Lukes mother. It didnt' answer anything for sure, but it gave hints to things such as her being a force user. The Thrawn stuff was by far the best, but I think Lucas would not use it thinking he could do better. There were other things I remember not making sense from the books to the movies too, but I only remember thinking about them when watching the movies... there is probably some website out there with all the non sync issues though lol
yeah, that was the book i was thinking of being a contradiction... but i have no idea why it was canonized even before they decided to make ep 1-3. it made some claim about a different mechanism of the Force dealing with it as a color spectrum instead of Light vs Dark. the entire story line was off from the rest of the star wars universe, so i would take it as being wrong before the movies (even if they are much different than the original plot summaries or whatever was first written). Courtship would be another good movie if nothing else just because of the raw pwnage of Luke as he becomes a master but hasn't limited his usage to boost perceptions of the Force as a whole. i honestly blame authors for many out of sync issues with movies... the one you mentioned contradicted the feeling of Luke's mother from how Ep 4-6 seemed to explain her. even the radically original ideas from many were so well written that they don't really seem to contradict even when referencing similar time frames as ep 1-3. i think Kevin J Anderson is my favorite for staying true to lore but making incredible new plots as well. there are a few book-to-book issues that can probably be explained easily by close publishing dates... those are most definitely Luca's fault as his staff were the authorizing agents to add into the overall universe back on the game though, do we have any more news on when it would come out or how they're going to avoid thousands of Jedi slicing up the place
I thought that was the idea, to have tons of Jedi/Sith? If it's not, I'll be real disappointed. The only way I'd play is if it was a fun as early SWG (which did just fine without jedi). I don't think a Star Wars game created today could survive without thousands of Jedi slicing up the place, imo. (Not after Ep2 & 3 and KOTOR)
The main idea behind the game is thousands of jedi vs sith so there will plenty of lightsabers swinging all over the place. There are other classes which seem to be fairly strong in their own right. On the site I was reading up on the bounty hunter and on the forums also. Seems like it will be a class available to the sith only ( though it could be possible to switch sides? ) and they seem to be fairly cool. Lots of gadgets, jetpacks, flamethrowers etc just a mimic of jango/boba fett. Of course most players will want to be a force user but theres alot of customzation as to how your character will work. I know they are sticking with the different jedi/sith classes so that will help with things a bit ( though the fact that the 'sith assassin' class is there probably means 60% of all players will want to be that, just beacause it has those two words ) but the fact that you can have 2 companions means you get more customization in your 'team'. I dunno about everyone else but back in KOTOR one of my favourite characters was HK-47. Even though I played a good guy his abilities in battle were really good and his dialoge was awsome...meatbag! So yeah I will probably be a jedi but chances are that my companions will be something different to give more versatility.
Switching sides had better be an option given how often that happens. One of the reasons Revan did so well before KOTOR is that he managed to get a large chunk of the Rebpulic fleet to change sides when he wanted them to. Then he proceeded to make more Jedi fall, as fallen Jedi made better recruits than untrained force users. Actually, forget that. Even the prequel movies were partially about Anakin falling to the dark side.
Well it will be more a matter of ethical choices im guessing that affect how your story plays out and ultimately which side you get drawn to. What Ive been reading is how everything is tied into your choices, your companions, your missions and even having past friends turn into enemies and vice versa. Its probably the first time ive seen a story play a vital part in a MMO, but then again what do you expect from bioware What im hoping though is that the story does shed more light into revan and also the exile, to answer all those questions that were left hanging ( esspecially since kotor2 fucked it up )
Well, there are some Dark to Light crossovers, but even in the future storylines you see Han and Leia lose a kid to the Dark Side
Being able to switch sides in an MMO has exploit and grief written allllll over it. Could be an interesting feature though, if they do it right.
well, huge penalties for coming back to the Light would probably make things even enough... and the non-Jedi being in the gray seems fitting anyway
maybe to switch sides you need to do some extreamly long quest, to redeam yourself or fall . so its harder to do and so time consuming that you'll not want to do it often.
Someone I know has an inside source. And according to their source switching sides will NOT be in at release, and if it is later added, it will only be allowed at end game, after you have completed your "story arc". Also for those deciding between republic and sith based on Dark and Light. BioWare intends to let you play as both Dark side and Light side in both factions...no matter what class you are. Also, according to my friends source these are the current classes: Republic: Jedi melee Jedi ranged Commando Smuggler Sith: Sith melee Sith ranged Bounty Hunter Spy
Itll be like choosing Jedi Guardian and Jedi Consular. I was kind of hoping they would have included a wide choice of jedi/sith classes with a bit more depth to each one and a progression stage on classes perhaps but whatever works. I guess they have space to add more stuff as it goes on.
i'd think i'd hybrid them like i usually do in kotor, grab a "ranged" focus on force powers, then make sure i have decent stats for lightsabers and make sure to gem up for deflections and such. all ranged isn't great against a strong jedi that can just deflect or avoid ranged barrages
I'm looking forward to this as WoW is getting monotonous after a few years and WAR did not like my computer one bit. See you.
