I have some avi files that I would like to make into a dvd for my daughter. Thing is, I've never done this and have no clue what to do or what program to use. The DVD player she has just plays DVD...Nothing fancy. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
avi files dont make for the best of dvd movies, but are playable. Just use a program like Nero, add the files then burn. Also, for future reference, if you were wanting to rip one of YOUR DVD's pickup DVD Decryptor (all ripers use this) then use DVD Shrink (my personal fav) to reduce the file size if needed and burn the movie EXACTLY like how the movie was created.
ok, Well, What I have is avi. Is it best for me to convert it to something else from avi before creating the image? if so, what file type should I convert it to? Nero isn't free is it? I mean legally... Was hoping to do what I need to free of charge.
You can download a Nero program called Nero Vision Express for free. Will make any file into a complete interactable dvd without you having to do a single thing other than click burn.
I have used ConvertXtoDVD whenever I have burned files to them. I took all my spiderman unlimited episodes I had and made a sweet DVD from them ^.^ it's a really easy program to use. Takes a while to ocnvert though but totally worth it. For direct copies of DVDs I have used DVDXCopy.
if you have an avi already and using a converter that handles it, nothing... i think it was more toward decompressing compressed video = lower resolution
Last week I used something called AVI2DVD (I think, it's on my work computer) that converts avi's to the required vob and nfo files. It evens creates an iso file to burn using any burning app.
