This is the Microsoft I want to see, this video is a clip from a presentation given yesterday by Microsoft’s Business Division president Stephen Elop at the Wharton Business Technology Conference. It shows what Microsoft thinks the world may look like a decade from now, in 2019.

Neat stuff. I can see most of it actually happening since we already have a lot of those ideas implemented just not mainstream and on the same size scale. Though photo recognition of plants I don't think so. That will take some serious research on a product that hasn't even been showcased yet.

It looks cool, but... I'd hate to see life like that. Personally, I hate the reliance on technology, but the level we're at right now is fine, since we dont rely on it 100%, and its a good balance of technology fuck ups and human fuck ups. But hey, I'm a pessimist.

What do you mean? Bout the only thing I hate about it is that people are never actually talking to the people in front of them. So many times do I see a group of 5 people and almost every single one of them is texting someone else.

I don't really see much from that video creating a reliance on stuff that doesn't already exist but improving it to the point where its just another wheel that makes life convenient.

Original version of the Surface has been out for a year or two, but there's a new version in development. Yes, while the original isn't being sold to mainstream consumers. Nobody would buy it at the moment anyway - not too many people can afford a $10,000 coffee table.

That's sweet! Can see that being especially useful for blind people, since the assholes at the treasury decided to make all our bills the same size, feel, etc... very slick :)

Wasn't as impressed by the OP video, seems unrealistic and as brown said, a bit TOO reliant on technology... *shrug*

    Just stumbled onto this quote.

Seems to explain everyone's reactions rather well.

"How a blind person is going to point to an object when he does not know the exact position? "

Blind people swinging phones everywhere...that's helpful.

As for the OP, they already have such things in casino's, for the military, and companies. They allow you to interact with objects such as cameras and phones and you can take images from them and transfer them around without puggling anything in, just laying it on the screen. Microchips will eventually become very small and will eventually be used in many things. 2019 may be too soon, but by my lifetime I would imagine it very possible.

Dude, blind people typically have hands, and a sense of touch, and are capable of picking up objects with the intent of identifying them. Derp?

I copied that comment from youtube. xD

They have hands but they are blind, where do they point? Try closing your eyes and try to walk around. Now I don't know if blind people have a greater spatial awareness but, it sounded funny to me so I posted it.
