I just built a gaming comp on their site (with only 8 gigs of ram, not like 32 or anything) and it was already 9,000 and I wasnt even done building it. With a monitor.
i can accept the keyboard complaints, but right click? you can right click if you plug a 2 button mouse in... or if you have one of the newer apple mice, they can be configured to right click. i don't have any password/logon issues on my machine... im guessing that's some school software that's screwing that up. maybe i am more forgiving of the mac learning curve because i was paid to learn it and then teach it, but it's really not bad for non-gaming... however, seeing as this is a gaming website, of course pc's will be favored... and when i bought my mac, i did get a 25% discount cause i know a guy who works at apple that i played Counter-Strike with also, Apple overcharges for Ram... buy it separate and install when you get it. and sure the "# NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB [Add $2,850.00] " is a good gaming video card, but i don't see reaching $9k without it and i wouldn't call it essential for your gaming machine. i was at say $7k with 2 30" cinema displays.
I hate Macs. I have to use one all day at work. I love PCs. I have two at home. I don't have anything particularly productive to add to this thread other than that vote, and potentially my rant about why I hate Macs so much.
You heard it straight from Shoji. If you disagree, you should ban yourself from the internet and do whatever you do with a Mac.
Mac: Hi, im a Mac. PC: Hi, im a PC. Mac: Hey PC, what are you doing there? PC: Playing a game. Mac: Wow, what game? PC: ALL.
Windows 7 will be fixing that. (Difference is, you can probably turn it off if it annoys you.) P.S. Re: Neptuno - putting a Quadro in a gaming PC is like using Opterons... I've seen people do both, and I have no idea why. You pay a MASSIVE premium, yet most of the performance boost will only be seen in applications you aren't even using it for...
Erm why not grab your mac, beat yourself over the head with it till death occurs and use it as a tombstone. ---Most expensive tombstone ever and you'll be doing the world a kindness for removing one more idiot from the world---
my comment about that card was in response to mercsan's claim of a $9k machine for "gaming"... that's the only way you can get that high is with that that card and obviously, its not for gaming at that point. though, you could also get that high with double 30" displays if you stack up in excess on hard drives and the like - also not a gaming requirement. are their desktops stupidly expensive for gaming? yes. their laptops for high powered graphic and video design are not.
well, the price was just dropped on part of it, but the dual quad core below was at $8,700 note that each display is $1,799... i bought a Vizio 26" for $350 at Sam's Club 2 weeks ago Two 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 8GB (4x2GB) 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB Two 18x SuperDrives Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)x2
Why would you buy a vizio? Samsung is the only way to go for gaming. And you call yourself a gamer? HAH!
cause it was there and cheaper than the samsung? it was discounted for some sort of after christmas sale or something.
Obviously it was cheaper than the samsung, lol. The quality of the products are not as good as samsung. You get what you pay for these days.
