Macs were never really meant to be gaming PC's.

I use a macbook for school and a laptop for gaming.

    LOL

I don't like macs at all... the software is annoying and cluttered. I would even prefer use Vista over Mac OS.

Also: 'Mac games'. Did you mean PC games?

There's not really much point in owning a Mac if you're a gamer, unless you like the image or really really want to use OS X.

Lol. I'm really just playing it up because its a lot more amusing than 'I dont like the software but I understand why others like it', which is my stance behind it.

You will never catch me alive (or conscious) with a Mac though (unless I'm checking something really quick and I dont have my laptop on me). I just can't stand the software.

i had to learn a mac for my job in college (troubleshooting and consulting for professors trying to incorporate technology into their classes) and really grew to like macs, but they are not as optimized for most games because the games are designed for windows.

for games utilizing a full keyboard, the windows vs apple key can be reconfigured etc in OS X, but you actually have to hack a mac to manually create a sort of mouse acceleration, and then it still isn't quite as responsive outside of the pads on the laptops.

i believe the best way to play WoW (the only game ive tried on my mac) was in retrospect to dual boot a windows copy to it.

Im in my Photoshop class at school now... and I have come to hate macs more and more. Before I knew I just didnt like the layout... but the more I am forced to use them the more frustrated I become. It takes the stupid machine up to 6 tries to get my username and password right. The XP machine across the hall only takes 1 try. The layout and the hotkeys/lack of right click pisses me off.

lol yea i hate macs as well, but as for a gamer point cant you just get a mac and then run bootcamp or whatever where you can run windows on a mac?

my roomate has a mac and ive used it a couple times cause he has a printer and i dont and im sitting there trying to right click words to copy them or something and behold there is no right click....they should really put that in its just useful but i do like the little ball in the middle of the mouse =D

But they couldn't give the Mac a right mouse button, that'd be selling out!

Mac fanbois are always screaming how mac is better blah blah blah. I have yet to see why. Everyone I know(ok only 3 people) has had their mac die immediately after their warrantee is up. You can't play games unless you enjoy minesweeper(which is probably a windows only game).

As for the whole "My Mac has never had a virus". Well it's probably because you can't watch porn on quicktime(shittiest media player ever). I don't get viruses on my comp either. You know why? Because I protect myself against them and I'm not an idiot that opens spam mail to get a 50 dollar gift card if I launch hit hokey .exe file.

mac dont have viruses because mac users are suffering enough already, no need for viruses XD

also, much of the supposed 'security' they enjoy is a result of the inherent security in its unix/BSD origin

mac dont get viruses cause why would you spend your time attacking 30 mac guys when you can spend the same ammount of time and attack 30k pc guys? you get more bang for your buck!

and i know 2 people who have a mac, one my roomate and when he sent his in to get work done on it they wiped his hard drive which had all of his expences on it from the past 5-7 years or so (so they upgraded him to this beast of a computer) and another friend who has a mac laptop in which the "c" key doesnt work

    My problems with macs:

1 - The standard keyboard has flat keys, compared to the concave keys or a regular keyboard. So I was hitting the wrong keys a lot more than on a regular keyboard.
2 - Instead of a mouse with separate buttons, the standard mac mouse senses where your finger is. Meaning I've had times where I've pressed the same location on the mouse twice, one registered as a right click, the other as a left. Instead of a wheel, they have a tiny little ball that is also annoying to use.
3 - To reach the USB ports on the back of the machine* you have to turn the screen around. The problem with this is that when most people grab the screen to turn it, one of their fingers usually lands on the power button which is also hidden round the back. I saw this a lot in one of my comp sci papers where we had to use Macs.
4 - The menu bar locations are at the top. I regularly find myself clicking the menu, only to realise that it's the bar for the wrong program. On windows and linux machines this doesn't happen because the menu bar is linked to the programs window. Even if your not confused, that means two commands to pull down a menu (change program, activate menu) than on linux or windows (click the menu bar in the inactive window, it does both for you)
5 - The only difference between the icon to start a program, and the icon for a running program on the dock is a small symbol beneath it. Usually a hard to see symbol. On windows the location of the program icon tells you if it's running.

I do have some other complaints about macs, but they mostly stem from me not being used to them and thus don't count.

*The usb ports on the keyboard are unpowered, so some things don't work in them. On PCs, the ports on the front of the case are usually powered.

  20. The Mac has always had a right click. The Apple mouse that I use has a right and left mouse button, and you can always CMD+Click or use two fingers and click on the trackpad to right click.
