DFO: Will it succeed? Who cares? IMO, it will to an extent, but there are to many Carebear WoW Baddies in the MMO community that dont know what to do when they lose all their gear because they have no 1v1 skill and dont know what ganking is. aside from that, the hardcore PvP'ers (like myself) will enjoy it, for almost its full value.
it has a different method of play, and more freer flow of character development in skills and abilities. hopefully, it will be able to support the number of people better than the pre-order website apparently is doing. and wow didn't make the baddies... they develop that level of suck through years of pratice.
I don't know if this is what you're implying.. but just because someone plays WoW, doesn't mean they suck =P Or else you're basically saying like 90% of today's gamers are "carebears" Including those that were/are hard core into AC and UO(pre-felluca). Also IMHO, its not bad to be considered a carebear.. I mean.. lets break it down... to care about something, means your human, and that's actually a good thing. Bear's.. there all big and cuddly you just want to squeeze them... or shoot them when they come at you.. So... all good.. Win win.
so bears can't care and thus carebears are required to be some sort of pastel hybrid? it seems to me like he's saying that most people are hardcore enough about pvp to appreciate this game, but there's always going to be some setup that pwns pvp and nothing else, and people that want to multitask are still going to be mad over it. it's a universal concept of qq
Been there, done that. IT NEEDS, free stat allocation, str, vit, dex, quick, and whatnot. Then it will be the perfect game. Oh, and im only referencing to the WoW Players, where it was their first MMO....and the ones that STILL Play it. There is more PvP in Hello Kitty online....funny thing is, im not making a joke there.
you are certainly entitled to your opinion. i cannot dispute the claim having never played any hello kitty game, though i think you probably haven't played much wow on a pvp server.
I played on arthas then malganis with Aurora. WoW doesnt have PvP. Trust me. Played SB for 6 years, UO, AoC (just a few games with ganking). All I do is gank, but SB fulfills it with inventory loot, but WoW Kiddies wouldnt know what that is. Plus, ive seen my cousin, then 4, now 6, play WoW.... and level to 70.
I played on a PvE server with a group of friends for 2 years and went to play with another group of friends on a PvP server(stayed for about a year). The PvP on the pvp server was pretty bad compared to the PvE server. As a duo warrior/mage we took out entire 5 man teams that were questing. WoW's PvP is a joke and is forced into instances. Anything outside of it is just a matter of lame or lamer. Class balance doesn't exist the game. Etc...... I played WoW for almost 4 years and it wasn't anywhere near a pvp game. It had pvp elements. EDIT: forgot to mention I went back to the PvE server because it had better pvp.
whaaaa? lol bears can care! if bears didn't care, they would eat people every single time. but at the same time they don't care, because if they did they wouldn't shit anywhere they please. However it seems they care enough to use only 4 squares of Charmin toilet paper everytime. Besides.. no one should really come down on "carebears".. so what if all they know is WoW? You shouldn't bash them for it if they decide to try Darkfall or any other PVP game.. you should encourage them to give it a go.. that way you have more people to kill easily.
i agree about pve servers having better pvp. also carebears ruin everything they touch. they try a new game, cry about everything hat they don't like until it gets changed, then they quit and go back to wow whenever wow releases its next expansion.
yeah, i agree wow world pvp can be a little weak depending on your server, but its the difference between pve and pvp gear and specialization. if you're speced and geared for pvp, then yeah, you can duo 5 casual pvper's without gear or spec. of course, the lack of skill required for some forms of pvp is a turnoff in wow, but i see the harvesting topic and think of wow honestly. sure you can't loot their gear in wow, but free HK's add up to buy it. every game has it's i certainly don't discourage people from wow from going to darkfall, i hope my previous post didn't imply as such. (it was more a response to "caring makes you human" thus my question about bears not being able to care)
Nah, even jobs steer clear of people that play WoW. WoW is for addicts, simple as that. Even my GF plays wow, however, once she hit 80 on her druid, she doesnt even play it because raiding over and over is boring to her, and she doesnt get anything from pvping. The fact of the matter is that people still reference WoW to having PvP, when it really doesn't. Sure, in a technical sense, but to true pre-wow MMO'ers, its rubbish and should be destroyed. For instance, you having your paladin in your signature...what point does that make? you're in the division, so im pretty sure people know who you are in the division. its almost pointless to put it there (not hating you, just giving an example or sillyness. you do what you want). WoW just dumbs down everything there is that makes an MMORPG.....an MMORPG.
everyone's idea of "success" varies Darkfall is niche, there is no way around that. It won't have hundreds of thousands of subs, but that doesn't make it a failure. I think it will do just fine in it's niche.
It could have hundreds of thousands in future, but the developers will have to do some serious work on the game and promotion.
well, regardless of the game of choice there is always time and effort involved in getting things of value for said game. whether its structured pvp environments or just a free for all, time and effort will be common denominators. wow can be dumbed down as much as you need it to be. thats why we have one division ranked 284th and one ranked 9,574th. perhaps its trivial and perhaps its people not wanting to give up their many long hours, but the achievements from the front page are where its a little more challenging and it actually takes planning and coordination to get things done. darkfall sounds like a great niche game as already stated, but i think its a bit much to take the strong selling point of one game and compare it to another that's pointed more towards a jack of all trades kind of setup. whether pvp is better in one game vs another isn't that big a deal if i enjoy only the occasional pvp time and enjoy it. as for my signature, my paladin probably doesn't need to be in my signature except that my main used to be neptuno and no longer is. there are many people in the division that by not connecting their character to their forum name, tend to be unknowns to newer players. this was something that stood out to me as i've only been here around half a year.
If your toons name doesnt match your forum name, then linking your toon names in your sig are generally appreciated.
of course, linking a half page of confirmation that Ironjaw is in fact your character too removes any chance of confusion as well
