I was sort of glad when Spoiler the blonde friend turned up dead. Stupid bitch needed to know when to shutup.
See this movie. It had a good plot, good action scenes, and it put a smile on my face to see him get his revenge on those responsible for taking his daughter.
Why is this in cinemas right now? I remember seeing it on (rented, so legit) DVD last month. And I'm sure I recall seeing a trailer much earlier still... Was there a re-release or something? P.S. Before I forget, it was a good movie though.
No. its a new movie. its never been on DVD, atleased. not legitly... that i know of anyway. that said, it is indeed a awesome movie. he tops Bourne for 'wrath of god' routines, and thats saying something.
...oh. I just found out why: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taken_(film) It had an unusually widely staggered release, and in the reverse direction to the usual. It was released in France almost a year ago, and in New Zealand (where I saw it) presumably in August or so.
I enjoyed it. Made me want to punch people in their throats and smash their heads into walls/cars/etc.
It was a great movie. It was released in France first because France wanted to approve it first, they did not want the story line to affect tourism. I believe in the end France still opposed it's release and part of the reason the movie is so short is extra scenes being deleted to keep France from frowning on it so much. Scenes showing corrupt cops/military/justice system. In the end the film was still released after some editing because France, as always, surrendered.
I can understand France's concern over the way the film portrays (admittedly only some of) their people. It's not the kind of stereotype you want to get into the minds of potential tourists because, sadly, some people are stupid enough to believe it.
