Just because its not about the initial topic does not mean it has no purpose. If it truly is about nothing it will just fizzle. If you think something should be locked, report it and say why and stop wasting people's time by spamming 'lock' in the thread.

    ~Anti-lock

@ Molo: You dont do Canadians better than Other Canadians..... Canadians to it better :p

Lock because Canada sucks. This is a pointless pissing match on the forums. The OP was about a shoe being thrown, not about why Canada sucks.

Hockey is cool, Canada sucks, this thread is pointless.

@ brown: like i said; gays.

this thread is pointless; but why not, most of our threads are. were a gaming community FFS. most of us are pointless or work at pointless jobs or go to pointless schools. it inspires conversation; although i think some posters could lay off the rageahol and subscribe to basic netiquette. i personally am all for political, religious, and social content as long as all posters are respectful to each other...otherwise it just turns into a bitching fest of who's better.

this was a clear thread until it went down the "US is better at [fill in the blank] than any one else" path. prior to that it was a relatively clear conversation as to whether or not it was cool that bush took one for the team.

personally i thought it was funny, but i don't subscribe to hero worship (other than Oddiz of course) or auto-respect of so called professionals or superiors unless duly earned. this is why molotof has a lot of arguments with local police/sheriff. they LOVE meeeeee.

And you, sir, have now derailed the thread more than anybody else. Congrats on being a hypocrite. Not only are you saying 'close because its been derailed', but you are further derailing it WITHOUT having any evidence to back it up. Congrats on being a hypocritical troll.

Now, why don't you enlighten us. Why does Canada suck? Eh? Why do you think that the USA is better than Canada? Emphasis on THINK. I personally am proud to be Canadian, and take offense to your comment, especially the fact that you say it without any reasoning. However, I do agree with one point. Hockey fucking rocks.

Personally I don't care about any of this, I just think it's stupid to get into arguments about who country is better or what have you. I don't really think Canada sucks and yes you noticed the derailment. Though I do really like Hockey.

I felt this thread has served it's intent and now has gone past it. Further discussion still seems pointless to me, but knock yourself out. I probably won't post any more here.

i think the old rule applies:
if you don't like it than don't read/watch it.
if you think you can do better than start a new interesting thread. so often it is easy to complain and so hard to contribute and build.

now that this thread is fully derailed do we go back to the original discussion or close it and move on? seems to me that there is a fruitful discussion about Canada and it's quality of moose, hockey and gays.

Lev is voting for slavery, war profiteering (wait we still have that), and passing laws to encourage growth of the North and manufacturing while letting the South languish as a 1 crop market fully dependent on the markets in France and Britain.

While their ideals were great, they still owned slaves and let's not forget what was done to the Native Americans. It wasn't gun touting cowboys that wiped out the Native Americans it was disease, including our fore-fathers giving blankets laced with small pox to children to eradicate an entire population (estimates are anywhere from 2 million to 12 million native Americans, taken down to 275,000)

The British did the small-pox gig, if it was done intentionally at all in North America. The spanish however are accused of this, with pretty substantial evidence, seeing how they wiped out most of central america by waiting out the natives as they died of european diseases.

But lets be serious, most of us don't look to them as really being our fore-fathers. Since most Americans trace their lineage, or part of it, as coming off a boat in the last 100 years.

2 Biggest problems in America that could have by all means avoided without greater negative reprocussions:
    1) The mixture of the ideals of church and state, and modifying one's religion to reflect nationalism.

    2) The current monetary system modified back to the British system with little to no way of fixing it.

These are things the forefathers saw as problems of their day (hell, a big part of America being founded was to escape the British monetary system, and when it was brought back the president responsible was profoundly regretful for his mistake), fought against and lost, and America suffers for it.

funny thing is other places LOVE pres bush with 80%+ ratings. Such as Africa.

    according to AOL anyway. =P

Also, in their poll of nearly 300+ thousand 42% said they will miss Bush a LOT. Although 41% said they will not miss him, with 17% saying they will miss him some.

even in the US, the right to throw shoes ends at the other person's face. he would be charged with assault even if were store clerk that didn't ask him paper or plastic and pissed him off.

and from my perspective, the only slap in the face i've received is living in a place that elected the guy for a 2nd term... guess they thought the votes didn't count unless they were appointed to the supreme court
