As Zarash knows, I tried playing on Live again last night with my 360, now that I had the means to do it. I got a free month for my birthday and decided to have some fun on Halo and all of that good crap. Well, in the process of playing, I start experiencing weird freeze ups, and soon, my console started not wanting to start up, throwing me one flashing red light. The night continued for a while, and then, suddenly, the freezes got more consistent and more RROD's kept flashing in my face until, suddenly, the final one dealt its blow, and now my XBox is officially bricked! It was working just fine for the past week until I did the update and now it has decided to die on me. Best part is, Micro$oft won't provide a box for me to ship it to them in, what bullshit is that? At least they'll repair it for free.
Lol I see. Well, I also forgot to mention that my system is one of the first gens. The manufacture date is 1/28/2006, so, it's gone nearly three years un bricked, thats one hell of a soldier.
I've got one of the first gens as well, got it release night. Haven't updated software for over a year cuz its in a room too far from the router. Any updates come from new games.
I've got the xbox 360 elite, and I've never had a RROD, or any other problems infact. Haven't updated to the new dashboard yet, probably gonna do that soon, maybe when Street Fighter IV comes out.
Everyone freaked about about Sony's disk read error in the PS2 but when microsoft has the RROD problem its just fine i never got that
Strange that the software update would kill it, I haven't heard of that happening elsewhere. That sucks. Still, having an xbox last that long is pretty impressive... I'm on my third!
