Why does it matter? Goku is a saiyin - neither American nor Asian. He's an extraterrestrial alien, but since the movie is being produced by Hollywood and marketed mainly in the West, it makes sense for the main character to be "American" so that the majority of its viewers can relate.

Agreed.... until I googled "asian" to make a case about how anime characters vs asian eyes, but now I am convinced that goku should be be played by this actress.

I remember watching it in grade 7/8. I finished high school (grade 12), took a year off (essencially 13) and am in university (14)... so I guess I meant 6/7 years, but same difference. That is when it was being shown on YTV (Canadian kids programming pretty much).

HOWEVER, I meant 5 years too late, since if it was just a couple years afterwards there'd still be a rather large fan base behind it, and it being announced would have made the fans go into a craze similar to that of what Twilight is now, except instead of being psychotic girls ages 25-, it'd be a lot of boys age 16-... and about as annoying.

Twilight is a different ballpark, Inuyasha is what you are thinking of.
Naruto and Bleach are a pretty close second considering they are a little more contemporary.

Great, a shitty TV show being made into an even shittier movie.

A friend of mine got me to watch DragonballZ once. I almost stabbed my eyes out with toothpicks. CRAP CRAP CRAP. OMG ITS CRAP

Hopefully this recession will take care some of the companies peddling this shit to the masses.

You should watch the original honestly, not that you haven't already made a bias.

I loved the show and would still watch if I had the episodes. I'm not above it anymore. The show was great and there is no way the movie is going to do the show justice. Where is the high flying action ? Flash attacks, craters in the earth the size of the grand crayon. This movie is going to be wack.
