So I know you guys are waiting for me to talk about this game so here's what I've found so far. Here is a video of Funcom doing shit on the 3rd. Video actually starts around the 20 minute mark tbh. Essentially this game is a survival game similar to ARK or 7 Days to Die. If you didn't watch the entire video the SFPS in the top right corner doesn't mean the game is capped at 30fps, it's the server fps. IMO this is just Funcom's version of ARK, it does look half decent so we'll see how they make it unique compared to it's competition.
Sorry for the double post but I've gotten some more info about this title, watched the 'new' video from 5 days ago here. The game definitely has some interesting aspects, there's a 'thrall' system where you can capture human npcs and use them to either defend your base while your offline or to be used to craft racially locked items.
Isn't funcom kind of a drag? I seem to have a nagging recollection of them fumbling an otherwise awesome game. Was it Bloodline Champions?
They've literally fumbled everything they've ever released. Anarchy Online, Conan, Secret World....they have a very bad track record but they did just get this massive investment a few years back for Exiles and reshuffled management so...who knows.
2nd CE stream happened yesterday. It's an hour long though so I'll provide a brief synopsis. Beginning of the video they show off the savannah, a new 'part of the desert' @6:53 they show off a village made with only in game tools. Looks pretty nice, very comparable to ARK. @7:55 you start seeing thralls defending the walls and shows the 'wheel of pain' that you put thralls on to 'bend them to your will'. @10:40 they show off gearing up, inventory management @12:00 they show off their crafting area and show off the furnace and they show off a thrall that's a woodworker. Then they make some armour @13:45 @15:30 Archery, pretty basic, what you expect @17:05 Dining hall, looks cool as fuck. @21:53 Combat explanations including chaining attacks, dual-wielding, shields and destroying a shield. @27:40 Showing off raiding a npc camp @41:00 They return to the npc camp @42:10 They knock out the thrall (off stream...derp) and then drag him away with a rope. For the rest of the stream they just screw around and die a bunch.
When you said thrall system, it reminded me of Asheron's Call 2. Except PLAYERS would have other PLAYERS swear allegiance to them. Super pyramid scheme. The top player gained power from all the players below them but you were limited to a max total, so you wanted to always make sure you had the most powerful people sworn to you and sworn to them, etc. I think you could have a maximum of 10 sworn to you, you gained about 10% of their power and 5% of the power from the people sworn to those sworn to you lol. This allowed guilds to create their own "hero's" without that person actually needing to have the best gear ever.
I kinda miss player driven systems in MMOs for shit like that. RF Online had the race council which was always full of drama and random shit. Lineage 2 had keep owners (guild leaders usually) with perks and whatnots. Tera was suppose to have tons of cool systems with ownership and then never did any of them.
apparently this goes live tonight with people from CoE playing it together with allied kingdoms may be worth checking out
If you bought it and want a solid server to try it out on SWG has a server up and would love to have you guys there for some PvP. Add this IP to steam favorites: 69.30.232.130:27016

Can't seem to get into it. The whole survival thing with eating food and drinking water is getting annoying.
Looks cool to me. I love Ark-esque games. Does it feature servers similar to Minecraft and Ark or is it Multiplayer traditional MMORPG servers?
You can play solo/ co-op Also allows to change rates of you host a server....... But hosting seems only thew perfectping
