Finally received our (wife and I) computer setup in South Korea from the states and I'm looking for a solid VPN for the both of us. Other than encryption strength (anonymity), bandwidth, up/down speed, and exit locations, what are some other features I should look into? VPN suggestions? Tried to search in XoO forums but "VPN" was too short and "Virtual Private Network" turns up irrelevant results. Thanks for your help.
I recently used Internet Private Access vpn and it was very solid with good speeds. As a matter of fact, i was capping my 60mb line. ExpressVPN is another one i am trying right now. But max speed i can get with them is 20mb.
After basic research I chose Private Internet Access. If anyone has further suggestions for general VPN info, feel free. Thanks.
https://torrentfreak.com/anonymous-vpn-service-provider-review-2015-150228/ Probably a good choice. If you have a router that supports it, I would highly recommend just installing an OpenVPN setup within your router config. That way all traffic is automatically routed over VPN in the background without any user intervention needed. You can use a local (somewhere in state or nearby) server for this so as not to affect your speed much at all but still provide anonymity and a bit better security. For extra security for specific things you can still use an OpenVPN shortcut set up on your desktop on your specific computer that opens up a 2nd VPN tunnel only when launched and will divert your traffic elsewhere.
Y'all using VPN now ? Afraid of the NSA or ? Never considered it myself so far ? Wonder if i should, CICS is everywhere.
You made a good choice with Private Internet Access, I used it quite a bit for gaming(Archeage) and the added latency was minimal. As far as speeds go, I didn't really use it for anything else other than gaming, so can't tell you about that.
