http://www.lazygamer.net/pc-hardware/is-nvidia-being-anti-competitive-with-gameworks/ So, all games that will feature development using Nvidia's package will run poorly on AMD ?
People take a couple quotes and run with them and then we get articles like this. Hairworks is software code developed by Nvidia along with a couple other tech's that Nvidia creates to run well with their GPUs. That code is owned by Nvidia and updated by Nvidia, and the code is licensed out to developers who want to use it. The developers do not own the code, do not have to use the code, and cannot change the code themselves. Thus the "code cannot be optimized for AMD GPUs" is true, because dev's cant alter the code of software they dont own. Nvidia only optimized their own software features for their own GPUs, and even updates the code to re-optimize it for new GPU generations at the expense of older gen stuff. AMD has their own software code too, but chooses to leave it open to all dev's to alter the code for their game and optimize the code in other ways. AMD doesnt have to do this just like Nvidia does not have to create features and give them away to the competition for free. The developers are however able to optimize their game for AMD hardware even if the game uses Gameworks code in some area. AMD has been saying lies that Nvidia does not allow this, but Nvidia does allow it of course. AMD is just whining because they dont have good enough hardware right now. Do you know why AMD performance is so low? They have terrible shader cores for tessellation and physics. AMD knows this and addressed it with a shader core update. Unfortunately they dont have any products on the market with the new shader cores, but like many generations of AMD hardware before, AMD has a certain specific hardware problem where one aspect of their cards is complete shit. This quote: 100% false yet now we have people running around yelling how PhysX is the root of all evil. The problem is entirely a GPU+driver issue that can be worked around with a fixed driver, which is a known AMD shortcoming. HAHA. ^^^This guy should be shot for how bad his journalism is. Here is some real info: AMD actually just recently said that they need to become more like Nvidia and invest in creating their own software code packages to create a better ecosystem around their hardware, so AMD knows they are lacking in the code and driver area and want to change that. Nothing has stopped them from doing this before except their incompetent management of years past.
So this was just posted 5 hours ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/36jpe9/how_to_run_hairworks_on_amd_cards_without/ The fix? Force lower tessellation in the control center. Now I wonder who said that AMD has a tessellation performance problem just earlier today...
So you're saying that the 390X should bring a fix to their tesselation troubles Enigma ? I'm not a particular fan of AMD but i'd like a company to bring products that have a lot of bang for their bucks, without the buggy part as my money is evaporating atm so i can't spend it on a rig Kyoji you picked a Merkava for your tank ? I wonder if they have type 10
Fiji and Fiji XT are the GCN 1.2 core cards (Hawaii and Hawaii XT were what became the 290 and 290X) (GCN = Graphics Core Next, AMD's long term architectural design for GPU cores). Whether AMD will name them the 390 and 390X remains to be seen, probably though. There looks to be a lot of re-branding of 2xx cards into 3xx names, but I really hope AMD at the very least updates the shader cores from GCN 1.0 and 1.1 into all v1.2's for the new 300 lineup. Otherwise 90% of the next gen cards will still have serious problems.
So I turned off the Nvidia Hair on my set up ... everything else it at Ultra ... I went from 45-55fps to 70-90 FPS with my machine
They stated they will, at some point, have all of the modern tanks, some competitive older tanks are possible such as the IS-7 and prototype tanks.
Well i just read that AMD Fiji will not be R9 390X (according to sweclockers.com) but will be a different high end model that will compete with Titan and that Hawaii will be on those (Tonga below 380). This would suck for AMD again i guess as the people who had the budget to buy a Titan, already did so (unless Fiji is at 700$).
