I don't know what the forum rules are for plugging different things. In light of this, if pushing for people to donate to Childs Play violates forum rules, then please delete this thread.

If not, then ladies and gents, we are getting into the holiday season. I personally am a huge fan of the Childs Play charity. It's about gamers giving back to the world, more importantly, it's about giving to sick kids sitting in hospitals on Christmas.

I'd like to implore anyone here that might be feeling a little generous to give to this group. I'd also like to spark up some discussion about maybe getting an even going in the community to raise funds for CP.

Oh, and if you wanted to Donate through the XoO forums, I have my own donation site that goes to my Paypal account,
100% Proceeds would goto the CPC.
There is a CPC location 4 miles from where I live, and another 20 Miles from where I live.

http://www.aphordit.com is my little donation page. It was originally for my ventrillo. But id be willing to help Donate for you all through CPC and see how much we can raise for the kiddies in the hospital!

Just let me know, or have one of the mods contact me in vent or on here, whatev.

And if this goes through, we can make a huge donation to some kids!!!! LETS DO THIS GUYS/GALS. This is sooooo freaking sweet.

I will edite Aphordit.com to affixiate this logo, if everyone is for this.

This is the charity event that Proudfoot and his friends did last year where they spent I think it 3 full solid days without stopping, driving that bus game from penn and teller right?

I donated last year, will probably do it again.

Wow tommy, didn't know you cared so much as well.

Guess everyone does have a soft spot =P

Yup, what do you guys think of my idea and modded graphic?

I would post a goal amount on the site, and a current amount

  8. Why wouldn't we just donate straight to Child's Play?

'Cuz Tommy wants to steal our money. :p

But seriously, no offense meant Tommy but I don't know you from Adam, and I'm honestly not comfortable sending money through you for XoO. It's just a simple lack of comfort in sending money through the internet to someone I don't know, and that holds for just about everyone in XoO and isn't even about you personally. However, if we could establish a XoO fund administered by a couple of different people here (checks, balances, all that stuff) with public accounting then that would be cool.

I don't follow, but yeah I did like 3 hours of re-organizing my schedule today to cut down my free time.

Because he offers a way to pay that Child's play doesn't ?
Oh wait, he only takes Paypal and they also take paypal.

To reduce the overhead, so that more money goes towards helping ?
Except he hasn't said how this will help.

Mercsan, if you want us to send money though your website you need to give us a good reason to use it instead of paying directly. Especially when it is easy to see how this could be a scam.

  14. Okay well I just send $500 through Mercsan. We'll see what happens.

    Lol, no you didn't
    -------------------

I was just offering it as a way to see how much we could raise for it.

If you don't feel comfortable, thats fine. All proceedes would go towards 1 hospital, Cincinnati Childrens and the Liberty Township Cincinnati Childrens Campus. Proceeds via Check. I would be giving constant updates on totals and whatnot. If you want to donate to the CPC website, go ahead. Its getting to the same place.

Problem with todays society, everyone thinks someone else is always trying to scam them.

Its not so much that we always think that someone is trying to scam them, its just a relatively sketchy idea :p

Assuming everyone wants to donate towards that hospital and assuming that people don't want to just say how much they donated.
Except through you it gets there slower than through paypal. And you still haven't told us why donating through you would be better than paying directly.

Limiting how much you trust people you don't know is needed to avoid the various online scams. Especially when they start making suspicious offers.

So what have you done to earn our trust ?

    Now you're just being silly.

I have a lot of respect for Meemo's thoughtful and thorough dissections on the forums, and agree on this particular count (as with many others).

Even if I knew you in person and hung out with you every day I still would pay through the charity's provided website, because hi, it's already established? I don't see the point in making your own. Seems like one of those "let's make things way more complicated than they need to be" things; thanks for calling attention to the charity, regardless. Oh, wait...

I'm not tracking your posts or anything. I'm just responding to you where I see you.

And I see your still not telling us why donating through you would be any better than donating directly.
