Basically im living in uni halls and have network access for internet etc. The uni firewall blocks pretty much everything, but we are allowed to open udp/tcp ports. So far i have 3784 open as a UDP port, and when i try connecting to vent i can see the server and it connects, but only gets as far as the syncronizing part before timing out. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening and how i can solve it? Below is the information given by the uni Apologies for the triple thread, but when i tried to post last night, the forums timed out on me and made 2 blank threads....
yea my friend had this problem as well and he ended up having to go down to their door and banging on it for like 3 days till they opened it for him lol
the note says he has the ability to open the ports he needs himself, he just needs to know what ports are needed for vent. Try opening 3784 for TCP and UDP, and 6100 for UDP, as I think it uses all 3.
Cheers Jeb, ill add those and see what happens tomorrow when the firewall updates and adds the new holes.
