Every name has at least some back story behind it, so explain how you got your name and what it means. I guess I'll start. Dag is my nickname IRL because nobody can pronounce my whole last name. It's short and pretty unique so I figured it would make a good handle. My profile picture is cropped from a picture I took of the stage of the play Matilda I saw in London this summer. I found 'DAG' by accident when I was looking over the photos. I'm sure at least one of you guys has a name with a cool explanation, so go ahead and post it!
Snow-man SWG day 1, made a all white wookie largest body, smallest neck, smallest eyes, smallest head, blue eyes. was on bloodfin played with VICE and DREAD and then after merge AXIS
Combined Uther (the Lightbringer) with two random letters. I was 14 and making my first character in World of Warcraft.
Mine is from my childhood. Picked the name and it stuck. I don't really care about the anime or the character now, it's just a name that stuck. I always thought your name was an acronym for Directed Acyclic Graphs.
I have a handful of different names I use. BlackMist - My old Diablo 1 name, more specifically Black_Mist(KoP). I came up with it from a combo of my favorite color and reading the instruction manual for Legends of Legaia. Xayton - My Pally's WoW name, I forget exactly how I came up with it. Shanther - Another throw back to my Diablo 1 / 2 days. There was a guy named Permaphrost who made something called Shanther Studios and I loved the name so I stated using it. RealityRipple - Once again another throw back to Diablo. It is actually the name of the guy who created one of the best chat bots. I'm actually not a HUGE fan of the name and can't wait for PS2 to have name changes. There are a handful of different names I have used over the years; Kaz - Guitarist from VAMPS Mana - Japanese Guitar Player XeLLoS - Character from the manga Slayers. I have never watched it. For me it was used from a person in Diablo 1 I was good friends with/ Cryptic - Diablo 1 name. VoiD - Diablo 1 name. Heimdallr - Diablo 1 name of a person I was good friends with. Xerties - WoW and Diablo 1 name that I forget the origin of. TearZ - Diablo 1 name of a friend of mine. SoulCreation - Name of a song by Cinder
Made my name right when I joined XoO about 8 years ago. I was in college doing a lot of drugs and really liked the silent 'T' ...
Damn, Xayton, so far you're the undisputed master of plagiarism. VakarisJ -- my given name and the initial of my family name. Vakaris is an old Lithuanian word meaning wind from the west AKA zephyr, it's use (like that of many old Lithuanian words) has been forgotten by a lot of people, which is a shame. I've used many aliases in the past, however, in my search for the most unique (yet fitting) nick, I figured out that the most unique one is none other then my own name + initial. So why even bother with unreadable crap like xXx68457K1LL3RxXx or some other? (No I never used it, I just thought it up as an exaggerated bullshit example)
My name is Balloon backwards. Why? Because once in high-school, I doodled an upside-down balloon, and called it the Balloon of Doom. Then because it was upside down, and my previous name was pretty fucking lame (KoRnholio, which I believe was the name I joined XoO with back in the days of PlanetSide), I decided to go with Noollab. It's proven pretty simple, yet unique. I haven't found many places online where this name has been taken. Whenever I DO find a game, or site, with it taken, my second option is always InsaniacNoollab, because Insaniac is the most awesome Small Soldiers character. I just never did understand why people always end up calling me nobbal, or nobland or nooblab.
Casual, i'm in music and my geek friends (who are all studying programming) always called me casual so the nickname stayed
When playing WoW I wanted a name that I could stick with, one that wasn't over used, original, and lastly something that was PvPish... After countless brainstorming sessions I was online in Skype with some Arena friends, and they were naming off names and somehow I came up with Gankfest. The TM as in Gankfestâ„¢ Comes from a joke also from playing WoW! When Blizzard introduced ASCII naming convention in character names I named all my characters Gankfest with variations of ASCII letters. I did this so when people ganked my alt I would camp them on my main and they knew not to fuck with me. Just the fact of knowing who I was not to fuck with me. This created a huge problem; because I had a high level crafting trade on each character, and would always need to send various items to each one to do my crafting dailies... Something that should take roughly 20mins was taking me 45min to an hour because I would send the item to the wrong Gankfest... At the time I would get home from school and do Arena with my friends, but did my crafting before hand which resulted in them waiting on me... One day they started cracking jokes on how I should trademark my name get Gankfest T- Shirts and have a merchandizing line... So, to carry on the joke I tagged the TM on the end as that was some of the best PvP I've ever done, and some of the best players I've ever played with.
Bunch of good friends started getting into heavy drug usage during school. Personal Riot, as in an internal conflict.
How do you pronounce it? Like NU-lab? I am confused. We all knew that, although there's also a YuGiOh character named Kyoji. That's pretty depressing.
