You can get a pretty kick ass PC for $1100 these days. Going higher just puts you into the dual GPU area, or buying a big, expensive monitor and keyboard+mouse at the same time. If you dont want/need those then there is your extra money right there.

I would advise waiting for third-party designed coolers for the 290.
The stock one is very loud, just check the reviews on the net.

Nice. I've used them before but I'm waiting until the consumer version (1080p) releases to get one for myself.

How well is the head tracking working? Do you feel any lag to it?

They best make Oculus Rift available here in Denmark as soon as the consumer version comes out, or tables will be fucking flipped.

I think the 1080p will still have noticeable screendoor though. If you want perfection, wait for the 4k version. If you're ready to compromise, go for it.

There is some lag, but that is due to the fact there is no official oculus support yet in Star Citizen.
I'm using the program that a forum member posted on official SC forums. Even so, it still is amazing.
The official demo with the oculus sdk has no lag whatsoever.

Oh, I'll definitely grab the 4k version when it comes around, but I don't expect one until late 2015-2016.

It'll almost certainly still have the screendoor effect, but it should be considerably lessened.

For all its faults and missteps in design, PlanetSide 2 was a real surprise as a combined arms game in that it had spectacular air combat with a high skill ceiling. With Star Citizen, no matter how hyped it is or how much FarCry3 Engine was needed to achieve the looks of the game, all rises and falls with the actual dogfighting and its core mechanics. It's yet to see whether they get it right.

Actual gameplay footage from the upcoming dogfighting module will determine whether the game is of any worth at all to me in order to get invested.

I'm not even sure mouse and keyboard is going to be viable in this game. It's barely manageable in X Rebirth. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for a good deal on a HOTAS next Friday.

um i love keyboard commands even in regular "x" space games, ws is main thrusters a d is strafe basically, qe is spin alt space is altitude. mouse is turret control, think like an Apache helecopter with look to fire type thing.

never failed me, and i could never do as much accrobatics in flight games or space games with a throttle and stick, especially reverse moves and such.

    X Rebirth's controls are a mind****:

    Q: Pitch left
    E: Pitch right
    A: Strafe Left
    D: Strafe right
    W: Vertical thrusters up
    S: Vertical thrusters down
    Z: Forward thrusters down
    X: Forward thrusters up

I am considering getting an Saitek X-52 pro, and possibly upgrading to a Thrustmaster Warthog. Or just get the Warthog straight away. It looks pretty fucking sweet. But it's also expensive :/

If my older Logitech stick doesn't feel right through the modules I might pick up something new in about a year. Got so much time for new products to come out. [example below]
At that time I might have to upgrade from my GTX680 and I definitely will be getting an Oculus Rift.

Apparently Saitek is coming out with an X-55 soon. They want to launch it before the Holidays I read so it might be worth a look of consideration.
Also heard they are dropping the screen in favor of a few quality improvements, but we'll see what reviewers say on it.
