But the thing is spamming won't make it skyrocket, once your today bar is filled thats all you can do that day
I just post because I have a lot to say. Actually BEING on the forums after you post 4 times does more than posting anymore. I just like posting.
I think today goes up as you post during the day. You earn some kind of possible points per day as you post or are actively logged on. Something like that.
Jeb already said in this thread that he deactivated the ability to see everyone elses "today" thing. Saving space/bandwidth or something.
Personally, I think it's a very good idea to keep only your own "today" stats visible, to keep the server load light(er). We don't have a massive number of members currently, but I expect the list will grow fairly rapidly. BTW, I was skimming through forums as you were putting these in place, Jeb, and I really like the new activity interface. You have my deepest gratitude for putting everything here back together so quickly and efficiently <3 I like the idea that activity is based on visiting the forum regularly, not just posting a whole lot sporadically.
Dash found another activity mod that we may try out. it's much more advanced and claims to not add much load. So we may swap them out and see what the new one is like
ok things we know: Activity is based on the last 21 days... So I uploaded the "level2" xml file but as we havn't been active 21 days yet, that might be the wrong one... Once we hit 21 days, if we keep this mod, if the top 10 users are not level 60-70 then I will upload the "level1" xml file which will adjust peoples levels, and see what happens.
Interesting but what are points based off of? Its not just posts, are starting thread worth more points than just posting?
the list is huge... everything from posts, to replying to posts, to people replying to your posts to well everything they could think of it seems... Posting of course plays a role in it, but there are tons of other things they look at as well... viewing threads, or getting referals for example also give points. As I say it's an average of all these things over the last 21 days (or whatever we set it to, but I assume the higher the days the higher the load for calculating the info.)
Okay so its a more complicated system than the other one where it takes almost everything into account
