ROFL, so even if I wanted I couldn't actually be able to play in a Xbone, nice. Actually, when Sony and Nintendo were direct competition (PSX vs N64 and PS2 vs GC), Sony ROFLstomped on Nintendo, both Sony consoles were clearly better. (Portable consoles are another matter)
Rumors have been going around for a while even before E3 that Microsoft was having production problems with the Xbone. To the point that they had to lower the clock speed just to get the acceptable CPU production up. So maybe they just don't have enough for a world wide release and picked their biggest selling countries to ship to for the holiday season. For those that don't know CPU production uses a binning process in which they test each chip for the clock speeds it is stable at then sell at an appropriate price. You never get %100 good CPUs of the production line so you get some chips that can run at 1.5ghz, 1.75, 2.0 and so on then make a choice to under clock some to match up enough with lower clocking chips so you have a stable supply to sell at a standard price point. In the case of the xbox they need to have a specific standard speed so if they where not getting enough CPUs off the line capable of the clock speed they wanted they would have had to lower the standard clock speed to get a more consistent output off the manufacturing line.
Not sure where you get your information, but I still much prefered N64 as well as the titles that went with it. You can keep tomb raider, i'll take Mario Kart, Perfect Dark, Mario 64, Goldeneye, etc any day of the week.
Both consoles are having yield issues. AMD Jaguar is a really fragile chip. While I too liked N64 better, the sales comparisons were very much in Sony's favor. Just like the Wii outsold the PS3 and 360 by >30% units.
Sales, PSX had three times the N64's sales, and let's not even talk about PS2 vs Game Cube, the difference is just too big, that's what matters in the end, Nintendo defeated Sony in sales with the Wii, but it was aimed at a completely different public than the PS3/X360 (it was cheaper too I think), they weren't such a direct competition as they were in the 2 previous gens. Oh and a higher number of quality games, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Vagrant Story, Crash saga, lots of great JRPGs, etc. N64 was not a bad console, but the PSX was a monster definitely, in my opinion the best console to the day, many sagas that today are legendary appeared there.
Now for something that should not be a surprise to any Steam user: Question is: How easy is it to get a permanent Xbone ban ?
I can't think of any reason I'd go for a WiiU but between Sony's bad attitude to security and Microsoft trying so hard to shit the bed, it's the only console this generation that I wouldn't refuse outright. I think I'll stick to the PC.
Pretty hard. There have been glitches in the past but they've all been corrected. Don't use cheating software, don't be enough of an *** to where most people you play with report you, and you'll never even get a warning. I've had XBL since Halo 2 and never earned a ban or warning.
Still goin for PS4 for now, i'll see later if the Xbox One is worth having. I've had both Xbox and PS since they released but always enjoyed the sony more somehow (maybe cuz i didn't play much online). Thing is, if we start to get PS4 n shit, we'll have to see if they do cross platform games (even if i'd rather go for PC version as it's MUCH cheaper, more reliable and kb + mouse = comfy for FPS). Still, E3 this year was REALLY big, if their games deliver, damn man that'll rock. Even tho Rome Total War 2 is released in september, so consoles will be much less attractive...
Even though I haven't pulled my preorder yet, it looks like both Division and Destiny will by PC games as well. To me, that makes both launch lineups not worth it, and I'm probably going to wait on both.
Want to know how CD Prokekt learned of the region restrictions ? It sounds like he saw the news on his phone. Microsoft didn't even have the decency to tell them in advance that the Xbone version of the game they are developing won't be playable in the country they develop it in. They had to learn it from new websites, just like the rest of us.
Just a little update on the PS4: If you didn't know, preorders were sold out everywhere, but Amazon just got a few more available. I grabbed one quick before they run out again.
Look up at how Microsoft treated CD Projekt Red, despite them being a developer important enough to MS to get a spot in the Xbox conference. How badly will MS treat less important developers ? How many of them will decide to stay away from the Xbone due to being badly treated ?
No sold out here in Canada, but those freaking taxes are ridiculous. Console ends up being 459. Kinda miss "all taxes included" prices, like everywhere else in the world... I preordered mine on Amazon as well...
Imagine what it would cost in my country then (Argentina), 450 USD is roughly what you have to pay for a new PS3 here right now (not that I care because I'm not interested in consoles).
The Game Stop where I work still has plenty. We keep getting more to sell because we're selling them so quickly. It might end up being more than we can actually store in our backroom. I expect we will have quite the armed guard come PS4 launch day. xD
Honestly, as I am always connected to the internet anyway I dont care about the thing with xbox one. Secondly, I dont have many friends who are gamers which I could share games with as well. So I am fine there as well. All n all the stuff xbox one is banning doesnt effect me, and I love the idea of it being that complete theater experience.
Yeah well, those things don't bug me either but the fact that MS sends all data including what is recorded on ur kinect to the NSA, that'd be a definitive no to me. Not to mention that u can't deactivate ur microphone... Free bug in everyone's home ! Yay ! Don't know how it'd affect us here tho and i think Canada would have a ghetto version of the "theater" experience anyways, like Amazon.ca prime vs Amazon.com prime...
