They improved the Kinect's capabilities. Sounds good so far.

Do gamers really need a camera that sensitive ?

Probably not. But it could open up some interesting game ideas, so it isn't a problem so far.

This does make a better Kinect.

    Now for the worrying bit:
A low power mode to grab updates overnight. Sounds like a good idea.

The Kinect as the on switch, that's a bit odd. Sounds like the Kinect can not be disconnected from the Xbox One.

But lets take it as a whole. We have a camera that can see in the dark and is seemingly always running. On a device designed to talk to Microsoft while you sleep. The only thing left to do to turn the Xbox One into a Telescreens from 1984 is a software change. Oh, and disable the radar bit, because telescreens couldn't see in the dark but the Xbox One can.

Now lets have a look at a patent MS recently filed regarding TV that watches you.

Well, you could always cover the sensor by placing an object in front of it. And for movies, doesn't really concern me.. I rarely rent off the marketplace.

Yep anybody that buys this system is a fool. You also can't lend borrow trade or rent games with out paying money that has been hinted will be the cost of the game new anyway. It's nothing more then a proprietary walled garden PC.
The whole no used games thing kills it for me doesn't matter what other problems or how good the games might be, I would never buy it just because of this.

Steam big screen is my new console. Any game that benefits from using a controller usually has full support. I still have the option of using a keyboard and mouse. Plus the ability to upgrade my hardware is always handy.

That seems like speculation. They said it has that feature, but never said they would use it for every game, right?

Here is the latest none statement from them. After the reveal event there where several statements from a few different Xbox divisions all saying something different. The fact that this latest none statement statement is still veg as hell says to me that the blow back is making them scramble to change something, but most likely they have all ready signed contracts about it and can't do a whole lot at this point. Knowing Microsoft they will probably pass the buck and the potential blame on to the publishers if they can.

    Really ?

That profile thing in your signature shows you owning quite a lot of games that can't be sold second hand. Why is the Xbox a problem when it allows second hand sales for a fee while PC games, which typically don't allow second hand sales at all, are not a problem ?

Is it even possible to sell any DLC second hand on any of the current consoles ?

people are in an uproar about it because console users have forever been able to trade in their used games to get credit towards new ones, more people do this sort of thing than those who do not. Now they are being restricted and everyone is mad about it because this has never happened before. Additionally, you cannot bring a game disk to your friends house to play as that isnt allowed. If you do so, you must purchase a whole new copy of the game for full price to be able to play it on your friends console. Pretty soon this will probably turn into needing to buy a license to let a friend play with you in multiplayer or co-op as it is the same concept. And it all goes right along with Microsoft's patent they got last year for having the kinect see how many people are in a room watching a rented movie and require you to buy additional licenses to let more than one or two people watch it.

I was not asking why people in general were annoyed about it. I was asking why Deadend had a problem with it given the number of Steam games he owns.

His words say he is against Microsoft blocking second hand sales. But his actions say he doesn't have a problem when other people do it.

Most of my steam games where bought during one of their big sales, most of them for under $10. And if you take a close look they are mostly all long term games, games I'm not likely going to sell or trade anyway. As for the PS3 games most of them where rented, borrowed or gotten through the PS+ subscription program, which is a whole other animal.

But lets take a look at the latest full priced PC game I bought it's not in that system because it's on Origin another walled garden, it being Sim City. I assumed it would be another long term game, one I came back to off and on over the years like other Sim City games, but god damn do I wish now that I hadn't bought it or could trade it/sell it but now I'm stuck with it, money down the drain and it's very unlikely I will buy another digital EA game over $10. Losing 5-10 bucks on a game I can handle but 70-80 hurts if I spend that much on a game it's the only game I'm getting for several months so it either has to be good enough and have enough re-playability to last that long (something sadly lacking in a lot of games these days) or I have to be able to trade it sell it or rent it.
